If anyone is still on the fence with these, then you can also look into SoundMagic earbuds. Very good value for the money but not the best build quality.

i bought the klipsch s4i i was not too impressed. the quality of the wires is comparable to one from the dollar store. i also managed to get one of the changeable earplugs stuck in my ear at the gym- wtf was my first reaction. the next week i lost one of the ear plugs- errr. i contacted klipsch via email and they sent me a whole new set.
i really couldn't see a big different in sound quality compared to other earbuds ive bought. i wouldn't buy another set even if they were 99 cents. i prefer shure ear buds. the quality is top notch and the retail price is a lot cheaper. wires are thick, and i have never had a problem with the earplugs coming out. klipsch should stick to floor standing speakers. |

Judging that they list patent numbers as a feature for these buds I don't think they will stand out in anyway. All people can hope for is these don't crap out after a few months of use. 1. Do you have a perfect seal with the eartips? Are the earphones in your ear all the way? Klipsch eartips don't fit my ears, so I have to use aftermarket eartips for a perfect fit especially to hear strong bass out of the S4. 2. Did you listen to the S4s for many hours to break them in? 3. Are you using an iPod/iPhone as a sound source? The newer models do NOT output strong bass, and it's too easy to blame your earphones. Apple toned down the bass in the EQ and hardware chip in order to save battery power because apparently, more bass means poorer battery life when marketing a product. If you don't believe me, google up Wolfson audio chip. It generates more bass and only the older iPod models have it. My Klipsch S4 with the original iPod Nano had so much bass when playing Trance/Electronic dance music, I sometimes had to turn it down. Also, before you recommend JVC as an alternative, I'm 100% positive it doesn't have the sound detail and quality of the Klipsch. I hear sound frequencies on Klipsch I've never heard before on other brand names, and for me, that's a fact. I've bought Senheiser CX200 and the sound is dull compared to the Klipsch S4 (although Senheisser fit and sound isolation were better, but you can say the Senheisser eartips are better, not the speaker). Klipsch have gone from highend to bargain brand since the explosion of personal media devices. Those who know better know Klipsch is still riding on the premium brand momentum it built up over the last 60 years. But in my eyes the brand is tainted and since Voxx bought them out it's just a race to the bottom in terms of quality.
Better buds can be had in this price segment, it just requires a little research. |

2) Break in? I used my friend's "burned-in" S4's and I still prefer my cheapo "straight out of the box" FX101/FX40's. 3) I'm using a Wolfson dac (Galaxy S3) for all of my listening needs and I still prefer the FX101/FX40. JVC doesn't have the sound detail and quality of Klipsch? Are you kidding me? JVC is one of the most reputable companies (and have been around for a very long time) when it comes to audio. Your Klipsch S4 is so great that there is a lot of problems with the earpieces dying out. Don't believe me? Just google it. Don't tell me the S4 is a quality reliable IEM because there are tons of problems with it. Klipsch and Sennheiser. Yes, the name brands of IEM's. They make high-end stuff that sounds great. But they produce alot of crap that people go crazy over just because the label says "Klipsch" or "Sennheiser". Have you even tried these other brands? Somehow, I doubt you have. Sound detail of the Klipsch? I'll give you a handful of IEM's that destroy the Klipsch S4 at the price range. So what do the S4's retail at. Well, the retail price is around $80. But the going price for the S4's are around $30-60? Give or take? 1) JVC FX101 2) JVC FX40 3) Vsonic VC02 4) Vsonic GR02 Bass edition 5) Sony MH1C 6) JVC FX3X 7) Brainwavz R1 Etc., Etc., Etc. The list goes on. The above IEM's are all under $40. No one is saying the S4's are garbage. They're not. They're pretty good. But at the price range, there are much better alternatives. |

And some people like the $8-$15 Philips 3580/3590 more than either of those. And some people like the Mono 8320 over the 3580. And some people like some other $6 ones over the 8320. Though at least two on your list, the Brainwavz and the MH1C tend to be very highly recommended. Joe Biden says Buy a Shotgun! Wackiness ensues! [youtu.be]
