Does Yahoo purposely enable spam?

I regularly try to filter my email to cut down on spam, but it is particularly difficult to filter email from Yahoo.com & Gmail.com, w/o also filtering non-spam.

I seem to get a lot of spam from Yahoo.com, so it occurred to me that Yahoo is doing a crappy job of preventing users from using their service for spamming.

Could they not do a better job, if they wanted to?

Why don't they?

This should be in tech support. I now get less spam in my inbox under yahoo than in gmail. For starters, use the unsubscribe, it actually works most of the time!

I find that spam comes in waves. I've been plagued by a decent amount of spam lately and it has all come from spamish user names at yahoo.com.

Not talking about spam in my yahoo email account, I'm talking about spam FROM yahoo.com.

They have to be enabling that by not taking measures to block it, right?

I don't really care about spam coming to my yahoo email, cause that's what I use that for.

No guarantee that it really originates from yahoo servers (unless you check the headers each time)

I receive emails quicker & less spam with gmail, but I always uncheck options for the various options offered. FWIW, I have a yahoo acct with 2,500 emails that I delete once every couple of months. __________________ - It dives and it jumps and it ripples like the deepest ocean.

Good point. But I'm not sure my email filter will filter based on the whole header.

They can spoof the header. Post a screenshot, minus any incriminating details. Also is there an unsubscribe link?
