Nah it's not weird. All MIRs are done that way. If fact any SER can be done as a MIR but who would want to do that. The lack of a UPC is strange though for a MIR.

Not necessary but you could. I included the rebate receipt just to be safe and even that was not needed. I know. It is weird to not have to send in a UPC or a rebate receipt for a MIR.

I guess I will not include the UPC since then it can be returned to Staples if the rebate doesn't work out.

Address envelope to TX rebate address. 2. Fill out top part of rebate redemption form with name, address... 3. Put the rebate redemption form and rebate receipt in the envelope 4. Attach stamp and mail. Don't need the sku for anything, or rebate offer number, don't need to go on staples website. Right??

You don't need the rebate receipt. Up to you. 2a) Check type of payment at bottom of rebate redemption form.

What are you talking about $4. More like $25 before sales tax for both if you stack a $10/$75 with $5 filler. Most of these are done for the spend and to cash out rewards which could be $50 or more depending on the amount of rewards you have to monetize and any additional purchases like the PayPal readers.

Oddly, Staples actually carries some very nice tools. They carry ChannelLock tools, which are made here in the USA, are high quality, and are affordable. They also carry Eklind, Pronto, Cooper, and a few more American-made brands.

TotalDefense requires product registration in order to redeem rebate. I stopped doing them because of this inconvenience and permanent registration of keys to me.
