Starting march 15th there's going to be a change in the rewards program. Nrw changes include 5% rewards on all items and also you must purchase $30 in ink every 180 days to get recycling rewards.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Just did my own chat on the Ink recycling before the 3/15 Program change. Up til the 14th we are still under the old Program; get those inkls in before the 14th to get rewards without buying $30 worth of ink

Quote from chat:
Initial Question/Comment: Hello, I am trying to figure out this new recycling program. I just recycled my inks for this month and need to know if I am under the old program or do the rules of the new program (3/15/13 )already apply & I now have to buy $30 in ink before this latest reward is posted to my Premiere rewards account
12:19:37 PM : Rachel: Hi Premiere Customer. As the new program does not go into effect until March 15, anything done prior to that date will remain under the current program.

If the double/double deal is true, and you can indeed recycle up to 10 (or 20 for premier) cartridges, for those buying HP Ink, there is a $15 shell gift card if you buy $99 in ink:

http://www.iteminfo.com/ItemInfoF...-99buy.pdf

Just did a chat and got this from the rep,
Quote :
o $30 ink recycling minimum spend. Customers qualify for ink and toner recycling Rewards when they spend $30 or more on ink or toner within 180 days of recycling their cartridges. Once the minimum spend is met, which can be done over multiple purchases, they will be eligible to receive $2 back up to their monthly limit.
I'm attaching a scan of something that printed out with my ink recycling receipt this morning, spelling out the changes to the program. In a nutshell, it involves buying $30 in ink or toner every 180 days. Can still recycle 10 carts per month for a base or plus customer or 20 for a premier customer. Also posted this in post #430, in case it disappears from the wiki.

Another interesting note: Seems like you have to be a plus or premier member to be able to recycle ink! "up to 10 per calendar month per Plus customer or up to 20 per calendar month per Premier customer" - Incorrect. Both Base and Plus customers can recycle 10/month. See my entry above this and the 2nd attachment on this wiki (or post 430).

I think the real question is "whether or not the ink recycle from 03/01-03/14 required $30 toner/ink purchase in order to get the reward on April?"
Can anyone confirm with Staples Rewards CSR? and update the wiki?

So if I trade in 20 ink carts today, I should still be covered under the old program, right?

Question on the new "5%" back on everything. Does that include printing and copying? Normally you get 10%, will this make it 15%?

I made two purchases on feb 23 and none of them shown on my rewards account, I looked the receipts and my rewards numbe is there, it's wired .
2/23 purchase was posted last week but missing the 2/18 for over 2 weeks. My 2/18 purchase was finally posted yesterday but reward was not posted to reward dashboard!

Last update date has been switched back and fro to older dates and I am waiting to see if they will post my reward value at all. I may do a online chat to ensure I will get my reward in March check.

Recycled my last 20 under the old rules today. Was speaking to the girl at the store, and she was very sweet. She sad "you probably know more about the new program rules than I do!" but she thinks that they will look back after the 15th so I should be OK with my ink purchase of several weeks ago. Guess we won't know till next month when we take in our cartridges and see if we get credit. Otherwise, hope there is a double double soon! I also got a printout with my receipt saying the new terms for the ink program. Basically the same spiel we all got in our emails a few days ago.

Used most of my 30$ courtesy rewards that just posted from last months double/double screw-up, cause they are only good till the 23 of March picked up another Paypal thingy and another one of those Scosche mini-speakers for ~7 bucks with the 20% off coupon. Those little speakers are pretty decent...figured good to have an extra.
Assuming they will roll out this new rules nationwide. I have not got any email regarding the changes, nor my recycle receipt yesterday printed out with this changes (My did recycle and purchase in 1 transaction)

5% back on everything means 5% back on everything. So only 5%. Excludes self-serve copies.

If you have the ability to turn in 20 ink carts, I have no idea why you would even care....

It would be wiser to wait till a double ink turn in promo, not the 20% bs that is this week. I either turn in my carts when that promo runs or my ink gets turned in on the last day of the month.

Generally that is a good strategy but your carts are grandfathered before the new program goes into effect on 3/15 so that you do not have to buy ink first if you recycle before 3/15. If you recycle on or after 3/15 it is unknown if past ink purchases within 180 days of the March recycle will apply or you need to buy ink on the same day you recycle in order to get rewards after 3/14.

I don't even see the grandfather clause even working imo. Staples doesn't even have a clue.

They better hire some additional help to man the phone lines around March 20th.

Staples is offering a 10% savings pass for ink and toner purchases good through May 2014.

Cost is $15 for the pass.

During last double double promotion, they convinced my wife to buy that. Since her account already gets 10% off, the pass stacked and put the subtotal below $50. Luckily, a quick phone call to rewards resulted in courtesy coupons covering the difference.

Now, my question is whether I can use that pass on both accounts without any problems.

I am still getting 10% off from the generic promo online (not sure about store) and that should have ended for me 11/30/12. I'll have to think about the pass. Don't buy that much ink to make it cost effective.

I just read the entire thread and I am very concerned.

I just purchase roughly $7000 worth of Printing&Copying stuff. I assume I will get the 10% back. I will do this on a regular basis. I just started using Staples so I only have the base account. I should be Premier Platinum based on my company's purchasing power. If they bring it down to 5% back then I am cutting ties with Staples and move to Office Depot which still has 10% back. I will call them tomorrow to see if they can get me grandfathered into Premier Platinum with 15% back.

What does this actually mean to those who are currently Premier Platinum members?

Did you read the first PDF attached to the wiki? It specifically mentions some Platinum not being converted to 5%. Talk to Staples Rewards about your situation.
