Starting march 15th there's going to be a change in the rewards program. Nrw changes include 5% rewards on all items and also you must purchase $30 in ink every 180 days to get recycling rewards.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Just did my own chat on the Ink recycling before the 3/15 Program change. Up til the 14th we are still under the old Program; get those inkls in before the 14th to get rewards without buying $30 worth of ink

Quote from chat:
Initial Question/Comment: Hello, I am trying to figure out this new recycling program. I just recycled my inks for this month and need to know if I am under the old program or do the rules of the new program (3/15/13 )already apply & I now have to buy $30 in ink before this latest reward is posted to my Premiere rewards account
12:19:37 PM : Rachel: Hi Premiere Customer. As the new program does not go into effect until March 15, anything done prior to that date will remain under the current program.

If the double/double deal is true, and you can indeed recycle up to 10 (or 20 for premier) cartridges, for those buying HP Ink, there is a $15 shell gift card if you buy $99 in ink:

http://www.iteminfo.com/ItemInfoF...-99buy.pdf

Just did a chat and got this from the rep,
Quote :
• $30 ink recycling minimum spend. Customers qualify for ink and toner recycling Rewards when they spend $30 or more on ink or toner within 180 days of recycling their cartridges. Once the minimum spend is met, which can be done over multiple purchases, they will be eligible to receive $2 back up to their monthly limit.
I'm attaching a scan of something that printed out with my ink recycling receipt this morning, spelling out the changes to the program. In a nutshell, it involves buying $30 in ink or toner every 180 days. Can still recycle 10 carts per month for a base or plus customer or 20 for a premier customer. Also posted this in post #430, in case it disappears from the wiki.

Another interesting note: Seems like you have to be a plus or premier member to be able to recycle ink! "up to 10 per calendar month per Plus customer or up to 20 per calendar month per Premier customer" - Incorrect. Both Base and Plus customers can recycle 10/month. See my entry above this and the 2nd attachment on this wiki (or post 430).

I think the real question is "whether or not the ink recycle from 03/01-03/14 required $30 toner/ink purchase in order to get the reward on April?"
Can anyone confirm with Staples Rewards CSR? and update the wiki?

First I'll wait to see it officially posted. There have been rumors there were big changes coming in March. Maybe this is it. IF you can't make $30 on MM deal(s) per quarter you are not slick.Big Grin Now, what type of ink they talking? HP or all brands? If any brand, I'll be getting a Brother J430W and buying generic ink and selling the $30 ink I have to buy every quarter. This is a PITA requirement but I'm sure we will all figure out a way to game it to death.Wink Else we aren't slick.
It's $30 on any ink.

This manager is a very by the book guy. I go into his store knowing I'm not pulling a fast one on him ie Canon printer for $50.

If there's no double double promo in Thursday's add then I'll start to question him.

First, they did away with the $25 off $75, now this. So long Staples. Nice knowing you.*

*Actually, it wasn't all that nice anyway. Every Staples manager near me has been a complete douchebag.
It probably has to with deal hunters acting like douchebags with the cashiers/managers.

double double is probably 5 cartridges instead of 10/20 as why people were having problems this week as well.

There was a post on that other forum from someone who appears fairly knowledgeable who stated that the ink manufacturers ended their subsidies of the ink recycling program last year. Hadn't heard that before but could be true. I had a manager tell me about a two years ago that they reduced the cart recycling from $3 to $2 to break even on the recycling program. So Staples adjusts the program as needed. We just need to figure out how to roll with it.

I just got 350 ink cartridges delivered today. Wish I would have known before I ordered this could possibly drop the demand for empty ink cartridges.
I hear you. I just last week decided to finally get in this game, and I now have 250 coming tomorrow. The timing of this couldn't be any worse for me. I guess I shouldn't be panicking yet though...I'm sure someone here will figure out tricks that will help me at least break even.

If I recycle my 10 in February, I will still be under the old rules, right? That would at least cover almost half of what I paid.

A little OT, but not really...
For those who aren't worried about the new rules and need to stock up on carts, it seems like the cartridge sellers are already expecting a drop in demand. Checked a few listings before this thread and saw a few priced at 0.16-0.17/cart straight up. Usually the best I'll see on any given day is 0.20 straight up. Just got an offer accepted for $50 for a lot of 350.

Good info and sounds legit too but you gotta give it to staples for making 5% back in rewards on everything. Of course, they're gonna jack up prices a bit. Heck even that goes in our favor of reaching premier spend limit. with any FAR items, we're effectively making 5% all the time, plus the normal coupons. Good on staples if that happens.

They will add it pretty fast. In fact, they already had that limitation on the triple rewards promotion. If they require you to buy $30 worth of cartridges, it should be double the time for Premier members, similar to the rewards expiration date. If they had a limitation of 5 for regular members. The limitation should be 10 cartridges for Premier members.
