Starting march 15th there's going to be a change in the rewards program. Nrw changes include 5% rewards on all items and also you must purchase $30 in ink every 180 days to get recycling rewards.

Just did my own chat on the Ink recycling before the 3/15 Program change. Up til the 14th we are still under the old Program; get those inkls in before the 14th to get rewards without buying $30 worth of ink

Quote from chat:
Initial Question/Comment: Hello, I am trying to figure out this new recycling program. I just recycled my inks for this month and need to know if I am under the old program or do the rules of the new program (3/15/13 )already apply & I now have to buy $30 in ink before this latest reward is posted to my Premiere rewards account
12:19:37 PM : Rachel: Hi Premiere Customer. As the new program does not go into effect until March 15, anything done prior to that date will remain under the current program.

If the double/double deal is true, and you can indeed recycle up to 10 (or 20 for premier) cartridges, for those buying HP Ink, there is a $15 shell gift card if you buy $99 in ink:

http://www.iteminfo.com/ItemInfoF...-99buy.pdf

Just did a chat and got this from the rep,
Quote :
• $30 ink recycling minimum spend. Customers qualify for ink and toner recycling Rewards when they spend $30 or more on ink or toner within 180 days of recycling their cartridges. Once the minimum spend is met, which can be done over multiple purchases, they will be eligible to receive $2 back up to their monthly limit.
I'm attaching a scan of something that printed out with my ink recycling receipt this morning, spelling out the changes to the program. In a nutshell, it involves buying $30 in ink or toner every 180 days. Can still recycle 10 carts per month for a base or plus customer or 20 for a premier customer. Also posted this in post #430, in case it disappears from the wiki.

Another interesting note: Seems like you have to be a plus or premier member to be able to recycle ink! "up to 10 per calendar month per Plus customer or up to 20 per calendar month per Premier customer" - Incorrect. Both Base and Plus customers can recycle 10/month. See my entry above this and the 2nd attachment on this wiki (or post 430).

I think the real question is "whether or not the ink recycle from 03/01-03/14 required $30 toner/ink purchase in order to get the reward on April?"
Can anyone confirm with Staples Rewards CSR? and update the wiki?

This is terrible news for those of us that don't normally purchase print consumables. I do all of my printing at work and recycle the spent cartridges at Staples. When Staples implements the purchase requirement, I will have to landfill the cartridges instead of recycle.

buy for a buck/cart FILLED, recycle for $2/cart EMPTY. Mayans were slightly off in their dates
Where does one go to purchase a full cartridge for $1 each, including shipping?

You buy =or>$50 of HP ink and you will get 20% back in Rewards and $4 per each empty ink cartridge you recycle the same day in-store or within 7 days for online purchase.
I'm still unclear what double-double means. I assume you are allowed to recycle twice as many cartridges as normal and get twice the reward? Normal reward limit is $20/month, so that would be $80!

probably say bye-bye to FAR stuff now.
That can't happen. Rebates are paid back to staples by manufacturers. It doesn't hamper their bottom line. Manufacturers need to promote their products. Trend Micro expects that someone would install it, put in their CC after initial license expiry and off they go charging the sucker every year. And there are suckers around every block, by the lot. Of course, we don't belong to those categories.

so turn in ink cartridges first half of march to avoid the new program changes, right? for one extra month at least?

This applies to Brother J430W printer. Go to amazon and search for ink for this one. These are generic inks mind you. But have worked well.
effective cost is about $1/cart, FILLED.

Double the Rewards back for the ink purchase: 20% vs. 10% and Double the amount of Rewards for empty ink carts recycled: $4 vs $2.

Actual terms would drive that fact. As of now, it's all in the cloud.

Am I missing something here? Why is everyone so bummed and talking about not recycling anymore? It's still $30/mo (+ 5% back) assuming these are really the new rules.

Don't think anyone is talking about reducing the number one can turn in a month just that they will only double/triple 5 carts for any ink promo. So if they state normal terms and you do an ink deal then it is probably to your advantage to turn in the max and argue for the difference if they only give you credit on 5 carts.

ETA: There is something to be said for maybe recycling all 20 the first part of the month before they make any announcement regardless of any ink promo. Can argue if anything changes that you recycled before the changes. Take a copy of premier benefits with old terms before they get changed.

ETA2: Staples reserves the right to modify, revise or cancel this Program, the Terms or any part of the Program at any time for all participants or for any specific participant without prior notice. Staples' decision on any aspect of Member's account, membership status, Rewards balance, or any aspect of the program or a particular Member's participation in it shall be final.

I was told the same thing at my staples when checking out by the rep yesterday. He said I know you recycle a lot of ink ( Smilie ), he showed me a piece of paper with new requirements. I asked for a copy, but he refused saying that we will hear from staples soon. Also, he told me it is $30 in ink every 180 days, so we need to wait for actual message from staples before we know what the deal is. But, it is coming, that is for sure.

For all those that bought mass quantities of empties, I'll buy all of them from you right now for half of what you paid for them, right now though. You have 20 minutes to decide and then I'am out.
