windows 7?

I am looking to buy a copy of windows 7 (not 8) - what is the best (legitimate) deal? home premium is preferred, but pro/ultimate are also OK

If you work at a place that has an IT department, check and see if you can get a copy for free from them. Many companies have deals in place where you can get copies of Microsoft software "to do work from home" for your home PC for a large discount or for free. I work at a college and can get Windows 7 for $20. My girlfriend is a software developer and she can get it for free. (And she had to, to upgrade to Ultimate for some kind of security thingy to work from home.) If you ever check your work email from home, could be considered working from home.

And it is legitimate... as long as you sometimes do some kind of work thing from home.

Just did 2 installs 2 weeks ago with 1 32bit and 1 64 bit win 7 pro.
32 was 69 and 64 was 75. from missionsofts.
Shipped the disks with no problem standard shipping/free took 4 days.

sadly my company discontinued that program.. and I can't seem to find anything for students that isn't windows 8 ;(

Thanks, that seems like the best deal for now - BTW you can safely install either version (x32 or x64) with a valid key (keys are interchangeable between x32 and x64 installs)

When I looked at the 32 bit disk they had sent the Home Premium.
I was? pissed and called the next morning. they overnighted a fresh copy of non branded which was a +.
The other 64 was a dell branded. The branded is a little cheaper.

Branded is supposed to be oem, thus not exactly legal, I think
