Unless you have worn your brakes to the point of scoring the rotors or they are distorted and causing some pedal pulsation, don't bother turning the rotors. It is simply an unnecessary expense (Slickdealers don't like that!) and removes some metal, ultimately taking you closer to the MUST replace point (you can only remove so much metal before they end up below their minimum thickness - typically you can only turn them once). Skip the 'turning' unless you really need it.

Your post got me thinking. Not something I'm used to doing this early in the morning!
First, I wondered if the Federal Government or some/all of the States put some kind of tax or tariff on wholesale or retail motor oil sales. It seems that many states do have a small tax that they put on each quart of oil sold (ex: TN is 2¢/quart, ME is 35¢/gallon, etc.).
Other than that, my thoughts are that either motor oil is a low-profit-margin item or that since there is such a high demand for the item, they figure they don't have to discount it.
One other thought. Perhaps the oil companies dictate to the retailers what sales they can have on their oil and when. This way, they can keep the price up and not have a price war with other oil companies. Sorry that it sounds like an anti-competitive conspiracy theory, but I can see it happening.

I was looking to buy some oil using these codes but apparently there are restrictions and oil is one of them. After I noticed that the discount wouldn't apply to oil I checked the wallyworld website and they sell te same grade Mobil1 for $12 less than Advance does anyway. That beats the 20% and the $10 of $30 coupon savings. These coupons are good, however, for those things that you can't buy at WW.

I think the only time I've been able to use a coupon on oil was with the ones I get from time to time in our Value-Pak coupon packet that comes in the mail. They tend to expire within a couple weeks but if I'm not mistaken they work on anything. That's the main thing I need right now is oil. My car is due for an oil & filter change. Oh well, even if I could take advantage of the deal I probably won't be able to get to the store due to Snowmagedden round 2. It's going to be all I can do to stay on the road and make it to work this morning!

Just in time. Need new rotors and a battery. Now I can finally put on those Monroe brake pads I bought from a amazon SD a year and a half ago

The RainX were under $30 for the pair, wasn't able to use the code. Plus the Bosch has better reviews.

Discover has been having issues with AA for some reason. I placed a few orders in Dec/Jan for batteries, brake parts, etc, on 2 cards and none of the CB came through. A call to Discover fixed that quite easily - I just gave the CSR transaction dates - she looked up what the CB % was at the time (10%) and credited my CB account on the spot!

Personally I've always thought it was due to hoarding - I know if I could use these coupons on oil I'd be stocking up, especially on the pricey M1EP I use (normally like $8-$9/qt).

I am in the market for a battery jumpstarter, but even with the codes, it's still more expensive than amazon.
