Dell Inspiron 15R SE Laptop: Core i7 3632QM 2.2GHz, 8GB DDR3, 1TB HDD, 15.6" 1080p LED Display, AMD Radeon HD 7730M, 6-cell, HDMI, USB 3.0, Windows 8 $720
Microcenter is selling the Dell Inspiron 15r Special Edition for $699 plus $20 shipping. This is for online sale only.
Link to deal. [microcenter.com]
The specs are:
15.6" 1080p Widescreen Matte Display
Intel Core i7-3632QM
8GB DDR3-1600 RAM
1TB 5400RPM Hard Drive
AMD Radeon HD 7730M
8x DVDRW Drive
8-in-1 Media Card Reader
Microsoft Windows 8 Home
As an owner who bought this in Black Friday, here is my feedback on the laptop as a whole, and its gaming potential for those interested:
The 1080p screen is exceptionally good with a non-reflective nature (no lights reflecting from all angles), has superb color reproduction, and is a joy to watch movies, photos or even game.
It won't play recent games at full res (1080p) fluidly at highest quality, with few exceptions. Here is a practical reply with no charts. I prefer a fluid playing experience over an extra notch of whatever. Choppiness kills a game more than anything for me.
Skyrim - I play it with some 30+ mods (which obviously slows things down), mostly high-res textures. I play it at 1366x768 at High, with 16xAF and get 40+FPS outside (with plenty of shadows), and more inside.
Batman Arkham City Benchmark - avg 33FPS at 1080p.
Deus Ex HR - I play this at 1600x900 for added fluidity. I get at least 40+FPS at all times.
XCom Enemy Unknown - 1080p, all options on, completely fluid even cut-scenes. I only mention, as I love the game, and deserves mention.
I should add that when playing I use a very light OC (quite safe), going from 575/900 to 620/950 with a slightly better fan profile. It is not noisy FWIW, nor does the keyboard or rest pad below it get warm. The backlit keyboard is a true pleasure.
Overall, I think it is an outstanding laptop for the price.
