Shows this as cooling the same amount as a Corsair H100, and quieter at the same time. Only a couple of Thermaltake Water coolers did better in this review (no Frosty Tech yet, you'll might have to cross index to compare what you are interested in), might be the best price/benefit ration cooler out there right now. Now, how badly do I want to fight with removing my 120mm tower/backplate mounted cooler....

It appears the rebate is over-lapping. Unfortunately, you can't claim both because they both require the original UPC. The $35 Rebate for LQ-310 is here: ZM-10638 [4myrebate.com] |

Good price for pretty decent water cooling. Once caveat is that with one fan the radiator has to sit flush with the back of the case. Because the radiator size extends past where a regular 120mm fan would fit not many cases will allow it to be installed this way. The solution is to mount a second fan to lift the radiator enuf to fit. But then you have to buy a second fan. and you do want matching fans for push/pull

This does not perform anywhere as near as the H100 I'd bet... Frostytech is DEFINITELY marked as a site that has a very odd methodology and inconsistent result... speaking from what I recall from hearsay. overclock.net member here. http://www.overclock.net/u/205313/flashfir |

The other problem, which is glaringly obvious for those of use with some laboratory experience, is that there simply are not enough samples/readings in most of the tests. Statistically, you should probably do a minimum of 20-30 mount/remove/clean/mount cycles for EACH heatsink, using a different unit of the same model EACH time. Given the cost in time and money, and the fact that remuneration does NOT increase for rigorous testing, and the chances are that this won't change any time in the near future. FYI - it's why drug studies are so expensive, an oops I missed that side effect can be sort of permanent for the patient on the receiving end. I normally try to use multiple sites, but didn't in this case as - well, I'd been up all night with my little boy and his ear infection. Plus I doubt I'm going to pick this up, as mixing fluids and electronics make me very nervous. I have computers that still work/I use occasionally after 15 years (I have older but I haven't started them up in a while) and I just don't trust the manufacturers' claims about durability about tubing/sealing in liquid cooling systems. I must admit though that overclocking with liquid systems, if you do it right, let's you get a big spike in performance with lower temperatures and and increased component lifespan - as long as nothing leaks.

This is a good deal... given the fact that you're probably not a high-end enthusiast it'll do just fine. However, to claim that FrostyTech is reputable causes me to doubt whether you should be advising other slickdealers on the relative performance of this CLC. Anyways... Overclocking with "liquid" systems is different. Just because it's liquid doesn't mean it's better. There's a whole slew of talk about Closed Loops and how they perform compared to similarly priced Air-coolers, Tom's did one with the Noctua D14 (dual massive heatsink) and some of the newest H100i + other closed loops. What it comes down to is air coolers almost always provide better cooling/noise/$. Highend CLC's like the H100i have to have fans which spin a lot faster (400-800RPM on top of 1200RPM) to get the few degrees of lead they get over high end air. Enough about that, if you want come swing by ocn and take a look around in terms of threads on closed loop coolers. Tons of those all the time "should I get H60... etc..." |
