just bought the mf4880dw for $150 on amazon and like it. Might be worth the $50 to go up to color but this does not have duplexing so not sure, has most of the same features otherwise. Plus looks like you can get a 4 pack of toner from around $60-100 if you buy generic.
why would you need to connect Ethernet and wifi at the same time? i have my cannon connected by wifi to one router, that router is G, the one we use as an N router is the main fios one and is connected with the other. Anything connected on wifi to the n or g router, or by Ethernet to either one can see the printer and has no issues sending jobs to it. just wanted to make that clear as i have seen people think that a desktop would need a wifi adapter to work with wifi printers, idk about others but with these cannon printers they just have to be connected on the same network.
yeah, i checked staples and they have a similar model to this with duplexing on sale for $400. more than i want to spend so will stick with the mono printer we just got and keep using the injet for color. we really dont print color that much, but for $50 more why not, get rid of the other printer and save some space. we just got a new one because our hp mono laser bit the dust after a few years, luckily we had a warranty with office max and they just sent us a check to replace it.
I'm considering buying this printer. There are multiple poor reviews so I'm apprehensive about it. Would like to know some more opinions on it before I decide. Also would be interested in the availability and price of replacement cartridges.
Bought it for home use.
Comes with Starter Cartridges (hard to complain - dead Dell 1230c came with starter pack too).
Easy to setup. Wifi works (don't care about ethernet).
Printer a little slow even compare to old Dell.
Refilling is a little hard (need to dig hole in cartridge) but saw generics at 100$ for 4 pack.
No scan to e-mail and to ftp on this unit (need with letter d).
Has linux drivers (avail on web site) but for printer only.
Windows has all. There is even scan to computer thing but have not tested it yet.
Overall for 215$ (Tax in CA ) delivered hard to complain. Old Dell was bought for 100$ + taxes.
So copier + scanner + Wifi for 100 more .
