Note that I'm not suggesting that buying a 2012 model that is about to become obsolete is a bad thing. After all, the prices are lower and the technology from one year to the next isn't progressing at a breakneck speed. But anyone buying a 2012 model should be aware they are getting it at the end of its sales cycle and could potentially hold out a few weeks and get an improved/updated model for a bit more. read some reviews. a lot of people say samsungs "smart" features are very buggy so this non "smart" tv is better. no need to pay $200 extra when you can buy a roku that will do all those features 10x better a fraction of the price.
the ES model do have a lot of issues with the edge lit led. flashlighting and all sorts of other problems. read reviews before you make a decision. not sure what buydigs return policy is. |

Good set, good price. Only complaint is the black levels on the 6003 aren't as deep as the 5 series. This also can show as slight flashlighting effect on the screen in a pitch black screen. But for the price, it's a very very small complaint for a higher quality set. I personally never use the "Smart" functions on my Panasonic Plasma. It's far easier to reach for my cell phone to check weather, facebook, etc etc. Netflix, Amazon or Hulu maybe, but you can pick up a Roku for less than 50 bucks.

I bought this TV from BuyDig for a similar price a few weeks back. Beautiful-looking TV and when the screen is filled with a bright scene (like sports), it really is a beautiful sight. HOWEVER, my unit has very bad flashlighting/light bleeding not only in the corners, but also some splotchy areas in other parts of the screen. Watching a dark scene in a movie in a dark room makes this very apparent. Off-angle viewing isn't that great either. The edge-lighting really washes out the colors and makes things look gray.
I'm not sure if I got a defective unit or if other people have experienced similar issues. BuyDig has a 45 day return policy (though I will have to pay return shipping and processing). I'm probably going to send it back. |
