Criterion 50% Sitewide Sale

Bummer. The Killer is not available on BR yet. Guess I'll have to stick with my DVD version for now.

More like 25-30% discount on Amazon regular prices. Most $40 Criterion Blurays, Amazon typically charges $23-.99-27.99 (on a good day), the $30 Criterion Amazon will run from 18.99-23.99 on most days.

Amazon's absolute best price comes close to these, but those only come out when Best Buy has a sale. I don't even remember Amazon coming close to BN's 50% web prices.

None of the one's I've got on my Amazon Wish List are remotely close to the 50% off though I don;t have anything more than a few months old on the list. I'm sure you can find an exception or two out of the 200 Bluray releases and it's possible for the DVDs which I don't track at all.

--- Just did a quick scan through Amazon's Blurays and found 2 or 3 out of 200 that would be equal to the 50% off price (and for each of them there's a Qatsi Trilogy for 76 on Amazon or 40 from Criterion). Most would be at least 20% higher from Amazon assuming you order $50. Of course if you don't
have Prime and are only ordering a single, then the shipping isn't much different for either site.

Blah ... I'm so spoiled by BN's sales that I can't even get excited for this. I miss my $10 Criterion blurays.

Would be nice, but I've never gotten a cashier to accept the 8off coupon for the normal Criterion disc. About the best I ever got was a 30% coupon or when the Buzz coupon I would get $12-13 occasionally. Still $14-15 I can live with when they have 20% coupons and the judicious use of a 5off50 in the right combinations.

I got a lot of discs last year buy catching the B2G1 overlap, but that only happens every 2 or 3 years so I'm not expecting BN to miss that again this year.

I'm curious on the 5 off 50 in conjunction with a 20% off coupon. Does this mean you pick out three movies for $20 each, hand over a 5 off 50 coupon, and then hand over a 20% off coupon? Does their system take that without complaint?

The issue with the 8 off 40 coupon is that the system doesn't recognize it on a $20 (regular price $39.99) Criterion. The cashier has to manually input the discount, which is YMMV when they get a good look at the coupon. I did have good luck with a couple of my favorite cashiers, so those nights turned into a bonanza for me. I think I used 4 coupons at one store, paying with a GC I got from CC points.

Bummer that the 50% off can't be applied to The Qatsi Trilogy [criterion.com] Blu-ray because it's backordered. But the DVD version is in stock.
