Anti Virus and other Security Software - FREE AFTER REBATE @ newegg.com

Watch out for the Symantec software. Forum users have had some issues in the past month with Symantec rebates being invalidated. See the thread here - Symantec_Invalidated_Rebates.

Also, for the Total Defense software, you have to activate it in order to get the rebate. For me, I'd rather activate it when I need it, not before I send in for the rebate.

Compared this Norton rebate's terms to older ones and Symantec added this to the terms:

"Symantec reserves the right to deny rebate requests if excessive requests are submitted per customer or household or if other factors indicate a violation of these terms and conditions."

IMO a fraudulent statement as they don't define excessive. I would avoid Norton products.

Was watching for a FAR offer on Norton Internet Security. Thanks OP. Had about 48 days left on my current subscription so this works out nicely. I've never had a problem with Norton Rebates and I never expect to have one either. I generally buy one product from them per year and ALWAYS get my rebate 1 desktop, and 2 laptop's). My personal belief is that the people who are complaining the most, are the ones who are trying to get the product for free and then re-sell it for a profit. Your risk, your potential reward. But it's not Symantec's fault when your hand gets caught in the cookie jar. They are not in the business of providing a product for free so that someone can turn around and sell their (Symantec's) intellectual property at a profit.

I agree. I order 2 a year for a few laptops and desktops and have not run into a issue since I order for personal use only

Why bother ???
Soultu showed norton added 3.5 minutes to my boot time. Ghost added 2 minutes extra boot time. Total an extra 5.5 minutes extra boot time
Google norton slow boot if you don't believe me. Don't even bother with norton saving passwords, it works half the time. Use free lastpass instead. Also norton is not the best at finding malware.

Vipre, Bitdefender and Kaspersky are much better.

If you have two or three pgms on your machine you probably are ok.

Run solutu https://www.soluto.com/ to check your boot times and get back with us when you either fix the problems by disabling features in Norton and/or get a different av product.

Don't be that naive. Read the following thread "Parago has actually patented the way they handle rebates to maintain breakage" http://archive.slickdeals.net/f/3...n-breakage

I don't resell and I don't buy excessively but I've been in the situations when my rebate was "invalidated" for no good reason (for example, ACE Hardware rebate on Stanley tools). This BS does take time to track and resolve. I would not want to risk buying a FAR product if the terms are so ambiguous. This behavior by Norton is not a good business practice, is unethical, and therefore should be penalized.
