Yep, me too! Got it yesterday, plugged into the TV it flashed the WD logo and then immediately the TV said no input.

filled out the amazon return form, and purchased another one from amazon's warehouse deals.

yep.. You could try a replacement also. Thats one of the reason why buying on amazon is worth paying that 2$ more as the doa units happen to be not just with amazon purchases.

Got mine and updated firmware, runs with no problem. It came with a plastic wrap on top and covering the IR port area and appears to be new with no scratches. I will do a 24 hr burn in to test further.

First Media player that I know that play Blu Ray ISO File flawlessly from connected USB drives......

same here, all good... so this is not an epic sales fail...

Last time I went in on a deal for a Refurb'd WD Live Media, it was DOA, and I had to pay return shipping. Net loss!

I think WD does a bad job in refurbishing the items. But with amazon we are not the ones paying the penalty. Thats the onnly reason why i think amazon is in this place and specially coz it does not fool the customers. Way to go!! Amazon!

48 hr burn in. Unit is warm, but no issues.

Really happy with the player, I was using the first gen since it came out. Maybe a seasoned Live user can help me out:

My current setup is HDMI to TV, Optical to receiver for sound.



5.1 and DTS all works well but if I watch netflix that doesn't have a 5.1 source or a Youtube video, there is no sound.

I would have to go back to home screen, setup and change the sound to 'stereo' only.



Wondering if theres any way around this, seamlessly or for the player to go into Stereo mode without having to switch.

My WDTV updated the firmware but I don't see any special offer from Vudu for $15 credit. Anyone know how to get it?

So, I got my other two from WD today and they both check out fine. Out of the four I ordered, the serial numbers of the three good ones stated with:

WNC4225
WNC4225
WNC4226

The one that didn't work had S/N starting:
WNC4320

Not sure if this has any correlation to others that have issues, but it seems that a later batch may have been problematic.

I am awaiting a replacement for the bad one from WD so we'll see what that is.

Bought one but was extremely slow, I don't if it was only mine. Returned it and don't realize the need for it anyway since my TV has 4 USBs that play any files

on that note, are there any Blu-Ray players with USB that will do what this unit does? as in just stream the movies. without DLNA or anything else? just connect to network. show shared folders and go.???
