Also for those planning a trip to Hawaii, you may try one of the sites below. They are talked about on tripadvisor all the time and are legitimate. They have agreements with car rental companies and they are like brokers and can secure a much much lower rate than any corporate or discount rates online. This may not be always lower but just double check with them also.

The process is simple, you submit a request form (usually they have an estimated cost for the type of vehicle and dates) and they will call and check with the rental car agencies for the lowest rate and reply back with an email to confirm the rate and which rental car company you will be picking up your car.

I have a reservation on a convertible through them for 7 days in Maui for $271 base rate (pre-tax and all the extra fees HI charges you). As with all reservations, make sure you email them as the date gets closer to confirm your reservation with them.
