My wife LOVES her old iPod and initially wanted and iPad but all the negatives and then ONE big positive on the Galaxy Note 10.1 (S Pen) convinced her to go with Samsung. Well, that and our experience with the Galaxy S3!

If you're like me and contemplate picking up Samsung Note series for drawing and painting, consider that quality art apps are very lacking compared to iOS. The only real contender in Android is Sketchbook Pro, which is also available in iOS. ProCreate in iOS blows any other drawing apps out of the water in either environment.

S-Pen is vastly better than any pseudo pressure sensitive stylus in the Apple camp, so it really comes down to compromise.

I have both 3rd gen ipad (retina) and the Note, and I do find myself drawing a lot more on the ipad+Jot Pro Touch simply because of ProCreate. YMMV.

lol, passing here too. To me it's not a slick enough deal as the 16gb has been $370-380 a lot recently. With new Samsung tablets due out soon, hopefully either they release a new Note 10 or we'll see more price drops.

The Note 10.1 16GB was my pick ($465 including the EFC-1G2NWECXAR cover from Newegg in mid-November). Tossed in a SanDisk - Ultra 32GB microSDHC Class 10 Memory Card for $19.50 and was good to go.

I got the Note 10.1 for the reasons mentioned above: S-pen, pressure sensitivity, good ergonomics, microSD slot, and the rising Samsung brand dominance (ensuring a good accessory ecosystem).

Negatives: Proprietary charge connector (pretty much solved by buying a whole bunch of "Aduro Samsung Galaxy Tablet Extra Long USB Charge & Sync Data Cables" at $8 each) and the screen resolution could be higher. Photos look awesome but reading tiny text in ebooks and emags is not as easy as I'd like it to be.

For this tablet, price should be starting at $349. The new iPad has been as low as $469 and that is with the Retina display and faster processor. This one is really an average android tablet with a pen capability which doesnt add up to the great screen and processor of the Nexus 10 or the iPad. Seeing the Note 8.0 which reportedly starts at $299, this one will even lose more audience because it,s essentially a bigger screen for $150 more.

Great post op. I have one and ill never go back to apple. Bunch of apple fan boys in here that know absolutely nothing of the capabilities of this tablet. I had an ipad for the longest and sold it the second I found this. Boy was I ignorant in technology. I needed something for note taking for med school and I had to buy tons of different apps just to open certain files and buy bunch of different stylus for the ipad after all of them just plain sucked. Wasted so much money trying to turn the ipad into something its not, a tablet for the productive working student and or worker.

The ipad is an entertainment tablet while the note 10.1 is everything in one. It does absolutely everything you can think of. +rep for you op.

People are so quick to insult on something they know nothing about. Especially when its compared to apple. Some of us like to be productive with our tablets, not just youtube and read books.

Picked up a 16gb yesterday at BestBuy. Using price match to Costco which had extended the 429.99 to 03/09.
Only reason I went to BB was so I could get the gray one. Costco only has the white in 16gb. I couldn't get the web site to show the lower price so I dropped by and took a picture of the display/price.
If someone needs the picture,, note it and I'll post back.

With the free ship and no tax this deal would have been better with the 32gb and 10$ cheaper..
W/tax out the door was 460.30.

Am no artist but heard that the adobe photoshop that comes bundled with note 10.1 is pretty nice..
