I, like many others, jumped on the One-Touch version from Meritline the other day. I'm wondering if this newer version has any additional benefits over the older model? It appears to be more compact (w/less breakable parts), but otherwise, looks to be the same. Does anyone have any direct experience with this model that could add some additional color? Thanks!

I had that one and I would not recommend it. The ball and socket joint lost its effectiveness literally within a week. The metal that wraps around the outside of the socket loosened and the ball would just drop down in the joint any time you tried to move it.

I only needed it in one position so I used a clay type epoxy to lock the joint in place as I needed it. It worked fine for a few months and then the rounded plastic on the side with the tab (the part of the mount that actually holds the phone in place) cracked almost all the way through. That piece takes all of the pressure in order to hold the phone in place and you also have to push on it in order to push the spring back to get the phone out. It is now useless because it is pretty much impossible to fix it due to where it broke.

I will say that I have a Galaxy Nexus which is wider than an iPhone so I may have been exerting more pressure on it than it's designed for. That being said, the ball joint is still terrible (my friend got one at the same time as me and his did the same thing).

Just picked up this one last night at BB for $20. Very sturdy and holds my Galaxy Nexus with case with charger/3.5mm cable just fine.

Quite the opposite, opens just wide enough for my 4.3" phone.

Have it hanging off windshield, but also has vent clip which would keep it very small. The pictures look small because iphones are tiny.

you don't quite get what i mean. The part that holds the phone is huge, the arm is too long, the suction cup area is kinda large too.
