Just tried the live chat. They told me that I will receive an e-mail if I was eligible :/ Then they told me I should try to contact Xbox Live Rewards directly, and gave me a link to their forum (apparently its the only way to contact them). Looks like there's already a thread there with people complaining about this :p |

For those who haven't already bough the dlc, Best Buy is having a promotion where you buy a 2000 MS Point: Halo Map Pass card, you get an additional 400 MS Point card for free. Before anyone asks, you don't have to spend it on a Halo Map dlc, it's just promoted for it. You can spend the 2000 MS Points however you like.

I'm down-voting this, not because of any hate for Call of Duty (I quite like BO2), but because this "deal" is worded such that it sounds little better than a scam by Microsoft.
First, they're giving you a rather lousy incentive (10%) to purchase 80% of the content sight-unseen, and that incentive is limited by the total number of points they're willing to give away. There's no indication that you'll be notified prior to purchasing if the 10M points have already been exhausted, so you may have been induced to make the purchase under false pretenses. Normally I wouldn't be so skeptical of such a deal, but Microsoft's microtransaction marketing strategy and pricing scheme over the past 7 years demonstrate a tendency to treat customers as unintelligent walking wallets rather than people they wish to engage in repeat business with. The entire points system is set up to: 1) encourage consumers to over-purchase by preventing paying for items directly, leading to odd lot amounts of points; and 2) make customers think that the actual cost of the content they're purchasing is 20% cheaper than it really is (i.e. 800 points = $10, for no logical reason whatsoever other than to try to confuse the less mathematically-inclined). |
