Would you also recommend the same for a subwoofer? and a receiver (may be not; right)
The sub doesn't matter. It only puts out the low end so doesn't have to be "timbre matched".

Does not matter at all for a sub or receiver. The sub will handle ALL of the low bass on behalf of ALL of the spkrs. Since the sound is not shared with any other spkr, you are free to get whatever you want.

Well you do the best that you can then. Perhaps this speaker will sound close, I don't know. Its important in movies and music IMO--when a helicopter goes from left to right, it should sound the same coming from the center spkr.
If you mostly do movies, its not essential to timbre match. Most of the time different content is coming out of different speakers, so no biggie. However if you do music, you want everything to match tonally, so its more essential to match at least the same brand and speaker line, if not all the same speaker model.

Around these parts people just suggest staying with the same brand and line to avoid any issues down the road.

Thanks much; looks like I will have to go for Pioneer for the center channel. Any recommended ones?

Appreciate any reply.

You can also get the whole 5.0 set for $379.88 at WWStereo... just the Rosenut color:
http://www.wwstereo.com/Energy/VMINI5.0R

Use coupon SDVERITAS at checkout to see the price.

Thinking about doing that and replacing my Energy C50 bookshelf, C-C50 center 5.0 setup. Anyone know if I'd get a big improvement out of the Veritas Minis vs the C series that I have now?

Message to all-- NO this will not be a good match for anything other than Energy Veritas front speakers. You should buy the same brand/same tweeter as your front spkrs.

I agree, it doesn't matter what brand sub you pair with your other speakers.

When buying a sub, you will need to know the low end frequency performance of your existing speakers as this will drive the specifications of the sub. But the quality of the sound isn't as affected as having mis-matched speakers.

As for a receiver, the receiver affects the sound in many ways but there is no paring requirement with speakers with the exception of making sure that your receiver supports the speaker impedance (i.e. 8 ohms, 4 ohms, etc) and puts out less watts per channel than the speaker wattage rating. The Energy speaker listed here would work fine with most modern receivers.

Just bought these and paired them with an Epik Legend sub. Upgraded from Take Classic/Bic F12

Takes and Bic were not enough for my room size. I highly recommend going with an Epik, Outlaw, SVS, HSU subwoofer if you can.

If your on a budget Bic PL200 is a great bang for buck sub at 279$ shipped or the RW12

And do not buy 5 centers to make a 5.0 system. There is no benefit in that, this system has bookshelf's, the entire system in black can be had for 399 from wwstero

If you have the extra $100 there is nothing wrong with buying 5 V mini CC's vs the 4 V Mini bookshelf and 1 Mini CC center at all. Then you have 5 of the exact same speaker which is the optimal setup. The advantage being you have dual woofers in the V Mini CC vs single woofer in the V Mini bookshelf.

And considering they don't have the V mini 5.0 in black right now (only rosenut available) it definitely makes more sense to buy 5 V mini CC's if you want black.

Although the Veritas are supposed to be a better line of speakers, I doubt you would hear much of a difference between the Veritas and your current setup. At least not nearly $400 worth. Of course you could sell your current speakers to offset the cost. The Energy speakers you have now are very nice speakers themselves. Unless you just want to upgrade for the sake of upgrading, I would stay with what you have. Although those Veritas rosenut's do look pretty sweet!
