For new, tack on $30. Most I've seen for refurbs are in the low 60s so this is the first in a while I've seen just at $60 so this is a $3-4 improvement over previous deals. At BF though these were around about $50 so either wait another 10 minutes or get one now.

Is there any significant advantage to buying one of these instead of one of those cheap android device players for half the price? What are some of the possible differences if any? Years and years ago this was the only product of it's kind or at least the leading one, but now I'm really not sure how they all stack up.

Also, does anyone know for sure, is this the model that allows you to connect an HD tuner and capture your own recordings? There was a recent firmware update that allows 2 models to do that, one is the WD Live Hub which has a hard drive but there's another lower-priced one that can do it too, and I'm not sure how to tell the difference between them other than the one that includes a hard drive.

I have one of these and, while I don't know anything for sure about tuner connectivity, I'm going to say no, this one isn't. There doesn't seem to be any inputs on the back that would allow for that.

The benefits to this player is that it has crazy support on it. I have a firmware update about once a month popping up on mine. I've also never come across anything that this WDTV Live couldn't play. I stream all my files over the network on wifi and it plays everything I have. I also do all my netflix/Hulu/etc over WiFi without any problems. Even something as simple as having a remote is really nice.

It's just a solid player that's well built too.

Thanks for reassuring my purchase. I've missed a SD on this device every single time until this one popped up. For all the crap I've been going through lately trying to get my movies on PC to play on my new TV, this device will hopefully alleviate that issue.

I use Windows Media player to set up my shared library and the only limitation I've ever come across is, for some weird reason, there's been a couple files that Windows won't add to my library, but I pop them on a thumb drive and the WDTV Live plays them like a champ. This is something that only happens very rarely and would probably fixed if I used a library managment software that didn't suck

Anyways, I think you'll be really pleased with it.
