1. All drives, regardless of mfg, are capable of failing at any time.
2. Updated firmware across the entire Agility and Vertex lines are showing outstanding reliability.
3. OCZ management has changed their warranty / return process and it is getting rave reviews from customers that have encountered issues.

Some of these SSD's have been released 2+ years ago. If someone had it in their server writing and reading and defragmenting the crap out of them you might be out of luck.


I am very sceptical about refurbished HDD's and SSD's. And saving not even $30 for an outdated SSD is not the best thing to do.
I have a VERTEX 3 and no problems, so I am not Anti OCZ. Their Stocks are fun too

Vertex 3 is my choice also and I have had the same experience, no issues.

I don't think he meant Agility4's were older drives, rather the Vertex2's which are .50 per gig. Keep in mind the Vertex2 uses a Gen1 Sandforce controller and is SATA2.

I believe overall the reliability of OCZ's Sandforce line has improved with firmware updates, so the horror stories of before can be taken with a grain of salt. Also, if you look at the reviews, any of the negative ones (at least on the Vertex2 80gb) OCZ responded saying "let us make it right."

I've read nothing but good things about the Agility4 (and Vertex4 but no refurbs here though) with the newly integrated Indilinx controllers.

However, honestly, it's hard to want to buy a refurb'd drive when you can go grab a Kingston V300 128gb at Staples for 50-72$+ tax. Obviously, if there's no Staples near you that might not work, but I'm just saying. Not knocking your post Evo-IC, it's complete and informative, rather Newegg's poor attempt at moving refurb'd SSDs. I know I'm just "asking for more" but a larger % off (30-35?) would make this deal hotter- but that's always the case.

Just nice to see someone post a bit of constructive criticism without having to yell the word, "FAIL!" if it doesn't fall into their idea of what a deal is.
$50 I'd be on that Staples V300 (I own a 64GB V100, first SSD I ever purchased, still going strong) but I've been seeing them for $72+ tax and I have a $50 NewEgg GC that I was itching to use.
