I too bought mine as a refurb. Honestly this is a great universal remote for the money. The only problem that I really had with mine was that when the batteries start to die it continually goes through the "setup." Once you replace the batteries everything is as good as new and you don't have to go back through the setup process again.
I can't really say anything about the timing skoffer mentioned because I only use it for my cable box and TV. Once nice thing is that you can set it up so that it only shuts off the TV since I DVR stuff and don't want the cable box to be off.
All in all it's pretty nice with an extremely easy to use setup on the PC and the fact that you can program the buttons around the screen to do just about anything is nice.
