I was there they were going to match it and when they pulled it up it was sold out! I guess it wasn't meant to be.

I just want the 65" version of this for $2500. Been watching Amazon and they are around $2880 with free tablet. Almost at my price point.

This TV uses a Sharp panel. The panel a TV use is the most important factor for PQ. If you think Samsung can make better picture quality with a Sharp panel than Sharp can, i got a bridge to sell you.

Buy the 60" Sharp and save yourself 1000$. Unless SmartTV features are worth 1000$ to you.

Solid price, I paid $2,500 for mine in the Fall and that was a deal at the time. The Smart TV is cool but it sucks. It's very laggy, the only thing I like really is turning on and off the TV with your voice and switching HDMI sources. I also like you can use your phone as a remote when browsing you tube which my phone is super fast and it will stay in sync with the tv.

You're not helping people out. You're telling people that a TV that clearly does not have the same picture quality is the same. Video processing is a huge piece to this. I don't believe that you've actually seen both of these TVs together.

Don't worry, i've seen both of them. Some Samsungs look like absolute crap. I don't know why people are fascinated by Samsung, but their quality has clearly deteriorated this year. Not only do they outsource most of their panels from cheaper manufacturers, they even use Chinese panels in their 4/5 series sets.

If you want to waste your money, that's not my problem. I'd buy a Sharp panel from Sharp. If i was buying a Samsung/Sony I would expect a S-PVA.

Please show me a source that is not more than 3 years old that states Sharp makes these panels. I'm being serious here and actually want to know now.

From what I just found out, Sony and Samsung own a join corporation S-LCD Corporation. They make their own panels. Also reading even more into this, as I mentioned before, the panel is only one piece as the image processing and lighting both make differences and build on picture quality. Sounds to me like people are just regurgitating old information. As for the "Some Samsungs look like absolute crap" I completely agree. All the 6000 series do, but not the 8000s.

You might want to do some research on the 65ES8000 vertical banding. It can be seen on certain light background - it used to bother me a lot as I know where to look for it; but I'm slowly getting used to it. At one point I requested Amazon to send me an exchange and the second one behaved exactly the same. I kept the 2nd one.
The current price of $2890 is really good. I paid $3099 before Christmas.

I took a picture of the panel myself. The UN60ES8000 uses same Sharp panel as UN60ES6000 as well as Vizio e601i-A3, and, of course, Sharp 60".

S-LCD Corp doesn't make 60" S-PVA panels. If you see a 60" LCD panel, you should be safe in assuming it's a Sharp panel.
