This is a wireless adapter that is a wifi-sniper people buy it so they don't have to pay for internet. I picks up 2mbps connection 500 yards down the road where i live its a beast.

No 802.1n, slick as a brick.

With the right antenna I believe that is possible. I have not done it but I have pulled 900 feet from a building where the lower speeds were disabled to prevent leakage. I had to use a directional antenna, the $8 or so Alfa model. With that antenna I think you could see 1 mile if the AP was outside. On this test the signal wasn't seen at all with the stock or a high gain omnidirectional antenna, the directional panel antenna is what made it.

If this is authenticate it is a great deal, I own 2 of these -- one 500mW older one and one 1W (1000mW).

I'd highly recommend the directional antenna for max range or a higher gain omni-directional antenna for general use.

I live only 600 feets away from my university hopefully i can use the university wifi

If you get this or anything in the 1000mw+ class you have to get a usb Y cable to run it, or it will be underpowered and you will have an in-and-out signal for further away ap's. You can even plug the other end of the Y cable into a usb wall charger, and the other end into your comp for max power.
Also if there are allot of AP's ith the same channel with these it tends to generate massive signal noise, so a directional antenna seems to be the way to go
