that's true, apple stuff is really stable. I've had asus rtn16, dlinks, netgear, smc, and all those needed reboots every month, or even weeks. I really hate to be always fixing this network stuff, whereas I can be doing something else making money, working, right, and not be worried that my internet is down again. even with ddwrt and tomato, i've had to at least reset once a month

when you first get it... don't plug it in yet

TO RESET TO FACTORY SETTINGS:

1. find paper clip
2. unbend paper clip
3. insert into back of Extreme (near the security hole) to press the reset button
4. plug into outlet (WITH THE PAPER CLIP IN, PRESSING DOWN ON RESET BUTTON)
5. hold paper clip in place until ORANGE LIGHT BLINKING
6. proceed to setup

Confirmed 5th Gen, and for the cherry on top.

I set up mine without resetting it to factory settings and it works fine. Any particular reason to do a factory reset? Mine didn't look like it was set up before, I even had to update the firmware.

hey, if yours worked just fine without the reset- that's awesome!! of course then no need to do the factory reset!

For those of you that received theirs, how's the condition of your airport? I have yet to receive mine but I think it's coming in tomorrow.

been running it coming up to about 36 hours now. there's some minor cosmetic blemish right at the top- can see them relatively easily if look at it at an angle. but if looking at it straight from the top, it looks just fine.

even with the little scuff marks, it's still in pretty good shape. granted, if the unit had been under my care from its original purchase, it prob wouldn't have gotten scuffed up

in terms of performance- i think it's operating just fine. don't have the know-how to do a thoroughly technical test, but 36 hours into it, it's just as good (if not better) than the WRT54G (and other assorted wifi routers) that i had been running for the 6-7 years. need to give it some time to see if connection will start getting dropped, router will start locking up, etc. (hoping not!)

Also forgot to point out a fairly minor issue-

Half of the power cord (the half that plugs into the white Apple power brick/transformer/adapter on one end, and into the wall outlet on the other end) doesn't seem to be original Apple equipment. It says "Volex"

BUT it works perfectly

Not sure, maybe some of y'all are seeing this. Or just don't care about it.
