aside from brand loyalty, there's not much reason to wait for the ps4 or xbox. you have to remember the ps4 and xbox will be really expensive!!!! they'll cost around $500, maybe more! not to mention, xbox users will need to pay an additional monthly subscription fee for online play. with a wii u, you will be able to play nintendo's exclusive games AND most of the same games as the ps4 and xbox. also, the graphics power of all the systems will be very similar. i understand brand loyalty may be important for you, but maybe you should buy a nintendo because they easily give you the best bang for your buck. |

its not brand loyalty.. nintendo's main strength has always been their 1st party titles (zelda, mario, metroid, super smash, etc)... none of those titles have been released yet on the wii-u except for a 2D mario so its really not worth to spend $250-300 on the wii u yet... and if you are talking about "bang for buck" it makes more sense to get a ps3 or xbox360 right now at $150-200 as they both have a HUGE library of top 3rd party titles right now secondly, you are wrong about the wii-u having similar graphics power as the ps4/xbox3... it is well documented that the wii-u is closer to the ps3 and xbox360 in terms of graphics while the ps4 and xbox3 will have a much larger leap forward: wii-u: 1.2ghz powerPC cpu (same cafe architecture as the wii, not a new design), 2gb ram (only 1gb available to games), radeon 4770 GPU (very old graphics card) ps4/xbox3: 1.6ghz 8-core jaguar cpu, 8gb ram (PS4 is using GDDR5 which is insanely fast), radeon 7850 class GPU (modern gaming graphics) it is also well documented that the wii-u is quickly losing 3rd party support (ie EA, Blizzard, Ubisoft, and Activision) due to the underpowered specs and tablet controller making it difficult to make multi-platform titles for references: http://www.ign.com/wikis/wii-u/Wii_U_Tech_Specs http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showt...p?t=512515 http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showt...p?t=513443 im not trying to bash the wii-u, i think it will be a great system to play 1st party titles once they actually get released since that is nintendo's forte... until then, it really makes no sense to drop $300+ on a new console with barely a handful of A+ titles. im also trying to correct you from spreading false information (ie claiming that the wii u will play most of the same games as the ps4/xbox3 and having similar graphics performance) Last edited by norazi; 03-02-2013 at 01:27 AM.. |

Meh still too much. I'll wait for this to be around $250.

The price continues to drop and yet I see no games out currently that even slightly interest me, nor do I see any in the immediate or distant future. The only game that I'm really interested for the Wii U is Bayonetta. So far it doesn't even have a release date so...I MIGHT consider a Wii U then, even though the whole premise of purchasing a console to play one game is rather silly. I'm all for buying new consoles and supporting companies, but they need to do a little for me first...it isn't about the price, it's about the substance...and if there's nothing I want how can they possibly expect me to buy? Nintendo keeps catering to aging fanboys, Mario will not have it's appeal forever, sorry.

I'm not defending or bashing the WiiU. I'm just clarifying that the price has remained the same since launch, and will for a long time. Nintendo is about innovation, not just pretty looking graphics. |

im not sure where you got the idea that the wii u cant play the same games as the ps4. watch dogs, supposedly the ps4's most resource intensive game, will also be released for the wii u. also, i wouldnt want to pay $200 for a last generation wii/xbox360/ps3 system, simply because they are approaching the end of its life cycle. i rather spend a bit more and buy a new generation nintendo system, which has backwards compatibility, the ability to play new nintendo exclusive games, AND most of the ps4/xbox720 games. nintendo is easily the best bang for your buck. maybe im just being cheap, but i just cant justify paying $500+ for a ps4 for slightly prettier graphics. |

Sony made that mistake with ps3 and wont make it with ps4. Nintendo should be laughed at for learning nothing in the last decade. Sony already has more and better launch games, with more to be announced. Quality games will not be a problem at launch. |

Where are people getting all these idea's that PS4 and "Xbox 720" are going to be $500-$600 minimum? Did I miss something or what? Last I heard, I saw "rumors" about the PS4 being around $300-$400 in price, and haven't heard anything about the "Xbox 720" yet. Were there more "rumors" released? Is there any source behind them, or just random people spouting off random numbers?
Personally I don't think Sony or Microsoft would make the mistake of charging $600 for a console, it just seems ridiculous.
I'm not sure about the GPU, but if I remember correctly the Wii U does only have 2GB's of RAM, with only 1GB available to games, as well as a 1.2GHz Tri-Core CPU. If you think that even measures up to a 1.6GHz Eight-Core CPU, and 8GB's of GDDR5 RAM, then you are sadly mistaken. And there's rumors going around now that the 1.6GHz CPU was just on dev-units, and when the console releases to the public it'll be clocked up to 2.0GHz. Even if the GPU is somewhat similar, CPU and RAM still do matter in games. And even a 6770 is quite slower than a 7850 (in PC terms), with the 7850 being more than twice as powerful (~119% more powerful) than a 6770. And Wii U may get the same titles as PS4 and "Xbox 720", but that doesn't mean they have to run the same. For instance, you can run modern day games on a $500 PC, or a $2,000 PC. The games will just look/play better on the $2,000 PC, but that doesn't mean you can't play them at lower quality/framerate on the $500 PC. Just thought I'd mention that. Not trying to bash on the Wii U at all, and honestly I'm not a "fanboy" of any of the consoles, I'm a PC gamer through and through. Last edited by shadowphantom; 03-02-2013 at 04:58 AM.. |

Hi there... You must be new? I've been getting screwed by Sony in video gaming since 1999 with eq, as I skipped out on the playstation. Don't expect them to learn anything as they never do. Expect a plagued launch as they more than likely are rushing everything to market, think rrod type problems, to try and beat Microsoft. |
