True, do you know of something that will work past a companies demise? The idea of streaming my media from a local device through a personal HD is appealing to me.

if you use their web interface or apps, then it goes through their web service. like a redirect.

but since this thing is so cheap and can easily be repurposed to do other stuff, it's not a big deal.

be careful. my pogoplug device corrupted 2 of my external drives. some data is lost. I didn't unplug my drives at all. Just moving data around. I don't believe it was fast enough thru IP versus USB directly on your computer.

Just got the E02 up and running from last week's deal using the free Pogoplug service. Running two TBs from two portable hard drives. Mostly for my large music collection. Shows up fine on the smartphone app and plays albums in order when using the "Files" option. Music files play without stuttering but with a couple of second lag, presumably to access the file on the drive.

I have no idea why these devices get slagged in these forums sometimes, I suspect it is from those who put linux on them, and give no credence to those who just want to use the service. With the smartphone apps the service brings cloud music storage from x number of GBs on dropbox or box to multiple TBs.

The E02 would be better than this if you have room for a larger device and multiple drives, but if you just want to plug in one portable drive and drop in an SD card with your current favorites this would be fine.

Only if you made the tragic decision to go with ATT or Verizon. Sprint unlimited has not complained when I have sailed past what would have been caps on ATT or Verizon.

To this day I don't why people pay higher rates for less bandwidth.

Sprint FTW and Ting might just be better.
