I just started looking into a Pogoplug recently so I don't have to store my music on all my computers/devices.

Is there any reason to need the $50 Pogoplug 4 over this one for $15?

Actually, if music is my main reason for one of these, is there something better I should know about?

Damn, I'm looking for 'with USB 3.0' one.
Thanks, anyway.

I love google play for accessing my music anywhere. No need to connect back into my own home network when I'm out of the house.

I just bought two of the older versions from Andorama a few weeks ago. This one doesn't appear to be any sort of a worthwhile upgrade.
I'm intrigued by its functionality to collect everything on all SD cards of all your tablets and phones for backup of the whole family's photos and such. Does the original Pogoplug also do that?

Also, does anyone know if keeps all functionality if the Pogoplug cloud goes offline or goes out of business?

Why? You are accessing it over the internet. So you will be restrained by upload speed, not hard drive speed.

Correct, but if I want to backup/ share files (music, photos,...) over tablets and/or phones wherever I go, how? This is the only reason I bought Pogoplug. Wink

Can you explain why?

If the popgoplug device is not dependent on the pogoplug company's cloud, why would the end of the pogoplug company harm the pogoplug device?

Is this a web interface so my chromebook would be able to play them also or does it require some sort of install?

I do the same - when people say they run out of space on their phone because of all the music they have I just laugh and tell them about Google Play Music Manager... and then they think its too hard.

If this thing has only one USB port, it is pretty much worthless.
You are much better off with the older version E02 which has 4 USB ports.
