If im gonna spend $350 i would like something that is new and that has a 6 year warranty. Plus a bunch of reviews put the tamron right up there with the canon lens. granted you will find haters for both

I'm hoping that they will have the student rebate like in the past where you can stack on top of this rebate. The lowest price I remember seeing on this lens is around $280 AR/AT/AC at New_Egg. I have missed a few shots because I've waited....decisions, decisions.....

For starters this one has image stabilization and a better focusing system. I have been looking for a affordable yet quality zoom lens with IS and found that this lens really fit my budget. When you are shooting at 300 mm camera shake can ruin your shots. After weeks of searching yesterday i decided to order this lens.

This forum was my last stop and sealed the deal for me... it has 150 plus pages of samle shots with this lens

Believe or not, I've found that the 55-250mm Canon actually has better IQ than this lens. I was very surprised as I assumed the Tamron was in a higher price range, but I was wrong. The Tamron is better at the wide end in sharpness, but by the long end the Canon wins out. I will say though that this Tamron works on full frame and has USD which means quiteter, full-time manual focusing. The build quality is better as well as it has a metal mount instead of the plastic on the Canon. It's still disappointing that Canon's 2nd cheapest telephoto lens has better IQ at the long end though.

Also, this lens is heavy as hell, as heavy as the Canon 70-200mm f/4 L lens, and is chunky as well despite only having a 62mm diameter filter.
