Government steals from us?
http://nation.foxnews.com/rep-joh...can-people From who? Us? Who's "us." The American people? If they are "we" and we are "us" we are not them. They don't steal from themselves, do they? Wait a second, he did said "We." Who is "we?" He's clearly indicating he's part of a group, but then refers to that group as "the goverment." How does that work? I think I got it... I am "we?" Ok, for everyone reading this, I demand 20 Federal Reserve Notes payable immediately. If you resist, I guess I'll have to get violent. Because, hey, if stealing is ok...and theft is a form of violence...than who's to say I shouldn't just escalate it a bit to get what I want? I mean, for real. If I'm "we" I should have all the same powers. Wait, I cannot be "we." I don't chose to go war, sell off future generations to banks, put people in jail, etc. I don't act like I own other people. What, is "we" like a big, happy family? Like I'm in the same family as the Plutocrats? I don't think so. Clearly I cannot be "we." Are you with We or US? Pretty amazing to hear a high-ranking public official actually say this. A sure sign of progress in understanding how it's simply not possible to have a Government. I missed the outrage during the wealth redistribution of the past 30yrs. When Boehner and his SCOTUS friends eliminate corporate socialism, I'll consider a reduction in earned benefits. __________________ - It dives and it jumps and it ripples like the deepest ocean.

"We" = Washinton Fat Cats (Repub or Dem, both included)
"American People" = Everyone Else The government takes money from us against our will and uses it to line the pockets of those in power and the pockets of the special interest groups (unions, associations, corporations, individuals, ...) that helped them get into power. Both parties are equally or nearly equally guilty. I think we can all agree to that point. Then there are more controversial things I would also consider stealing. A number of left wing programs, one or two right wing ones too. I will leave those examples out for now with the hopes of reasonable minds agreeing on the less muddy form of stealing. Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes.

Why call the cops? I'm totally confizzled. |

Nope. I can't guarantee that my taxes will be used properly or that I will get benefit from them. But hey, that's why I vote for the people who actually spend those taxes. If taxes are misused, the american people have no one to blame but themselves. After all, we elected the people deciding what to do with those taxes. And I'm rolling my eyes because it's a ridiculous assertion that the government is stealing from us by collecting taxes. Taxes have never been considered a "you pay this to get this benefit" mechanic. We pay taxes so the government can function. We're lucky we get benefits out of it (like unemployment, schools, roads, etc etc) |

![]() Oh, and the roads logic. Right, because who's gonna pick the cotton if someone doesn't whips the slaves into doing it? You do what I say so I can say what you can do. Now would be good for me; not really interested if it's convenient for you. We're getting closer. The State is the ultimate suicide machine, like John here says. So many governments, so many many history books. Will we have room for them all? |
|
Not a single sentence of that made sense to me. Can you try and make your point (and how it relates to this discussion) a little more concise? I say "Taxes are not the government stealing from us, it's us paying for the privilege of living in a free country". You say.....? |
