why would it not work for xgd3 burning? if i use mediacodespeededit would it then work ? (changing the default burn speed to 2.4x)

They could, but they never verified for me and are not officially recommended because the fw was designed specifically for verbatims. You can try, but i wouldn't recommend it.

That said, these work 100% for non-xgd3 on my samsung and IHAS burners. Plus, data/video dvd never gave me a problem either. Next lowest price on these (or the TDK's) is like $40 so this is a great deal. The reviews on amazon are either hit or miss, and it has everything to do with the burner being used.

what do you mean 'type of burner being used?' There is only one type of burner used, and that is from Lite-On iHAS series.

Bought this and used 'mediacodespeededit' to change out the custom firmware so that it allows 2.4x burning. Burned it into XGD3 format via imgburn and it ran flawlessly on a benq 360. No problems to report for these discs. They're good to go!

The success of these blanks (not related to xgd3) are largely dependent on the burner used. Better quality = better results.

That's great news so far..Did they verify with Kprobe? Might want to verify a few with abgx also, just to be on the safe side.

In the past, these disks had problems with burn quality toward the end of the disk. If you only burned about 75% full, the disks were O.K. They always failed a quality test with a lot of errors in the last 25% of a full disk burn. I have been using Verbatim disk because of this and have not tried the RiData for over a year now. Maybe they got the quality fixed now, I do not know. Just a warning to test these when you are done burning.

$10 shipping kills the deal for me, unfortunately. Maybe one day we'll get a Fry's here in the Northeast
