Valid points, I too have found some really top notch saws that a lot of pro's recommend and still have some bad reviews. I think it's fair to say that nowadays, it's difficult to find any product that some consumers just don't like for whatever the reason. I am by far no wood working pro, however, all the saws I researched had some bad reviews regardless of the brand or who sold them. For example, the Ryobi 10 Inch sliding Miter saw at Home Depot for $199.99 that has a total of 86 reviews and only has a 4 star rating. The problem I have with that saw is that any bad reviews were all the same issues, laser off, poor quality plastics, etc. The Craftsman one I purchased has 243 reviews yet still has a 4.5 star rating.

Again, for anyone who wants a above average Sliding Miter Saw for the price, you can't go wrong with this. If someone has a higher budget, then the game changes. I factor my evaluations not just based on the reviews, but also on the value of the product. Value takes into consideration, Cost, Quality, etc.
