TD are my favorite rebates. They are quickest I've seen. They remind me to send in stuff that I forget. They've let me submit rebates that were outside the time limit. But I've done 100+ rebates through them so maybe that makes a difference.

Possibly. I've had issues with TD. Newegg have been better for me personally.

average seek time for:
5400rpm drives is ~10ms
7200rpm drives is ~8ms
10,000rpm drives is ~4.5ms
15,000rpm drives is ~3.5ms

That part isn't true for HGST drives, at least in my experience. Every single one I've pulled out of an enclosure from them has had a normal warranty. Other manufacturers are a craps shoot

you wont be able to make a claim on the bare drive warranty though as it is tied to the enclosure warranty and the seal was broken, thus voiding the warranty.

It's always worked for me on 3.5" drives. I cannot recall ever needing a 2.5" drive removed from an enclosure.

I recently got a NAS device with support for two 3 TB drives. Since the sole I/O channel would be gigabit Ethernet, the drives didn't have to be especially fast or have SATA-III support. TD had some WD USB 2.0 externals with 3 TB drives in them for $99 after rebate. Popped open the enclosures and put them aside in case I ever have use for them, put the drives in the NAS box, let it do its thing, and a few hours later my network had a 6 TB media server.
