Just curious why would anyone buy this new iPad over the 3rd gen with retina...aren't the specs nearly identical except for a new port.

Also... why are people so hyped about the iPad 7.9 is it because its pretty portable or something or is it because it's cheap? It has the same internals as the iPad 2 from like 3 plus years ago and selling for the same price.

I would be very careful about buying "refurbished" from Newegg because they are so inconsistent in what it means. At least Cowboom is transparent in what it sells. Refurbished from Newegg might mean a manufacturer refurbished and repackaged as good as new or it could mean a return repackaged (people have received wireless routers with the previous owners settings still on it).

It is a decent deal if it is actually sourced from Apple who have been trying some alternative means to push units out to bolster sagging sales of the iPads pressured by Wall Street without affecting the retail price in its own stores, especially if you can do tax evasion buying from Newegg. Otherwise, you are taking a gamble. Not worth the price for unknown sourcing of a used product.

Purchase and ship the item to your relatives/friends who live in other state where Newegg do not charge tax. Then ask them to reship the item to your address. It wont cost more than $10 reship the item depending upon where your friend live.

Believe it or not no, it's based on the state that the product is shipping to. On newegg, my address is New York with no tax. If I change the shipping to New Jersey I get taxed. Same New York billing address.
