iPad mini - 30 sq in
Nexus 7 - 22 sq in (not subtracting for the big black home bar at the bottom)

The iPad mini has 40% more screen area. And no stupid huge bar at the bottom that causes one to hit the home button every time they go for the space bar.

Yeah I just spent an hour reading over reviews and watching videos of comparisons between the Nexus 7 and Mini. While the Nexus 7's price and hardware are attractive, the Mini definitely has it beat in screen size, color saturation (huge difference!), and apparently battery life. Pair that with the fact she has an iphone, so she is used to the apple ecosystem and owns apps, and it's a no-brainer.

I do want to like Android in the worst way. I've just never had as clean of an experience with them as I've had with the iDevices.

I've been down that road with Android. Now we have 6 iPads and 2 iPhones. I refused to buy an iPod (before my ipad) and more or less hate Apple. It's just less headache. Buying an app once and putting it (easily) on 8 different devices, no brainer for me.

I bought my N7 for a specific purpose: better compatibility with county websites I need out in the field. Plus it was cheap and I magnet modded the oem case for sleep/wake. If I didn't want it for work, I'd have sold it months ago.

Good move. I love the N7 but with the N7.7 coming out this summer possibly, this buy may end up on Ebay or just plain old buyer's remorse.

What's stopping you from buying an app on Play Store and installing it in all your android device?

Having to re-buy apps I already bought for iOS, having to deal with fragmentation (Nexus devices excluded). I've got iPad 2's that were bought in 2011 and are still on the latest iOS (and will most certainly get iOS 7). I had Android devices that were basically ignored 6 months after coming out. Oh damn really? I just purchased the 16GB (I don't care about the extra storage either) at Staples.com using my rewards and a $25 off $200 coupon. Maybe you can PM Staples with Newegg so you can use up your rewards checks. My total was $86 shipped. Couldn't wait for $40 more on rewards but I needed the tablet for an upcoming trip in less than two weeks.

I have been keeping an eye out for the 16GB to PM with Staples but no luck. Then as soon as I bought it, this comes out...LOL.

Anyway, I don't think they are discounting the Nexus 7s yet until there is announcement that the new Nexus 7 comes out perhaps this Spring which is just around the corner.

The N7 is a true widescreen which is perfect for hd movies. Each time youre watching, the stupid black bars on top and bottom of your ipad mini serve the same purpose as the nav button on the n7.
