no sd444 is exactly right. Whats he's saying is the CPU POWER has reached a point for AMD where is "good enough" to be stable and be fast (not blazing number crunching fast like the i7 but stable and able to run most applications) while the iGPU in AMD APU will SMOKE any Intel HD GPU 3000 or 4000 and AMD APU's continue to improve.

The winning blow to Intel is the price point. AMD's Trinity A10 can be found for less than $500 (can be found for $400-$430 if you look around) and can beat the i3 and "compete with the i5" and you get a way better iGPU that is even better than this one and can play games like Skyrim on medium (in a INTEGRATED GPU, thats unheard of in Intel world)

The only config worth it to pay a premium for now is the i7 with GT 645 GPU and above.

Never debated or disagreed with those assessments nor did I fly off the handle against AMD. As a matter of fact, the complete opposite.

You'd right, I reread it too late and thought you disagreed. I own an AMD APU as well but I will admit my next setup will be either Intel i7 with dGPU or Haswell simply because of the CPU passmark scores on 3rd gen i7s are ridiculous. The HD 4000 is such a bottleneck though. The AMD APUs are cheap so its not a loss to keep both around. I can wait to see what Richland has in store as well.

100% drop in replacement as long as BIOS supports it. Trinity dual core A4 -> Richland quad core A10s.

Haswell mobile with GT3e is pretty good but it's going to be only released in ultrabooks with ultrabook pricing (most likely only i7 models). So Haswell is going to be a waste for everything not having GT3e i.e. all desktops + just about all laptops.
