Yes, but if you have an older model ps3 (phat) then it's recommended you use 5400rpm to prevent overheating.

I think this deal is slick for xbox360 users who are in need of an HDD upgrade.

Now I wouldn't deem this WD hdd completely "old". It has been one of the faster mechanical 7200rpms 2.5" drives.

The Hitachi I am not sure since I can't pull up reviews or numbers on it. But frankly I wouldn't be surprise if it is on par with the WD black drive.

Keep in mind that mechanical hdds max out ~120MB/s which is nowhere near SATA II limit.

SATA III only benefit those in raid setups, and SSDs.

The extra cache the Hitachi has is appealing but overall it isn't entirely beneficially for most users. If you actually need a "performance drive" then I would suggest a SSD.

Not to mention the fact that TigerDirect had a bare 750 GB 7200 RPM drive for $50 a few days ago.
