Call 1: Tried with a CO billing & shipping address. No dice since Fry's troll says instore only.
Call2: Had to give them my old Texas address first while they checked Frys price.
Then after she had agreed to do the price match, changed the address to my current Colorado address during purchase order completion verification.
I'm fairly new to the gaming world...so forgive my ignorance. But what would someone need 5-6 controllers? Ignoring the most obvious answer being-to resell them, are they any games that let so many people play at once?
Soccer? What else?
Rep unto others as you would have them Rep unto you.
Yet it is not our part to master all the tides of the world,
but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set,
Uprooting the evil in the fields that we know,
So that those who live after may have clean earth to till.

Just got back from BestBuy. I ended up getting 2 PS3 controllers for $42 ($20). The first BestBuy denied me b/c the UPC wasn't the same. Than I just went to that same BestBuy's customer service and they allowed me to get two.
I drove to another BestBuy hoping to do the same but the manager said the same thing about the UPC.
Oh well I atleast got 2 controllers.Got them in Lithonia, Georgia.
Those that want it, keep trying. And just sound like a customer who's trying to buy from BB instead of Fry's. Don't emphasize the pm. Emphasize if the rep can help you buy from their store instead of their rival's store. Something like, "Hey I'm looking at Frys.com and they have the PS3 dual shock 3 for $19.99. I wanted to know if you can price match it for me." If you're lucky and get a good rep, they will gladly help you. Otherwise say, "okay, thanks, I'll just buy it from Fry's." and hang up. Oh yeah, call their toll free number, not your local BB. Those people working the call centers are mostly concerned about customer care, while store clerks are concerned about sales.
I can confirm that this works, even half a month later. I live in the Los Angeles area and initially I went to my local BB's customer service to get a price match. Of course because the UPC numbers didn't match, I was turned away.
So then I called the universal customer service number but the first sales agent denied my order since she checked the in-store availability and found that there was no $20 controller available within 25 miles of my area. She then proceeded to offer me a "deal" of $40 on the controller. Obviously I declined and called back immediately to speak a different sales agent. This one didn't even bother checking any of the technical details like the UPC # or store availability and rang me up for a grand total of $21.79 (sales tax) with free shipping to my doorstep!
I tried to get a blue controller but that didn't work. If you are planning using this method though, keep in mind that you are limited to one item per order.
No go a half month later in the Mayfield Heights BB here in Cleveland. Manager looked up the website and said since it is in store only they can't match since it is not a "competitive retailer" to his store (as Frys is a West Coast store).
Oh well worth a shot, unfortunate as my controller recently started exhibiting a weird sticky keys problem which isn't getting fixed despite opening it up.
