Speaking of write offs do you mean write offs like people using their "private" business to buy things like season tickets to sporting events and the either selling them or using them for their or their families personal uses then taking them as a tax deduction? And before anyone says it doesn't happen I know for a fact it does as I know people that do both. |

And in my most sarcastic voice - don't let that stop some posters from boiling down a few billion economic transactions into "I drive through my neighborhood and see rich folk driving their big cars, so they're raising prices for the rest of us...". |

But given that tax receipts from capital gains rose from $62 billion to comprise $110 billion out of the $198 billion surplus (not counting the debt calculation manipulation which reduces the real surplus number by a big chunk), it was the primary difference in the source of tax receipts.
