If I did the Staples Total defense Internet Security rebate, I could still do this one right? Pretty sure they are separate rebates without overlapping terms but want to make sure. |

not a bad little tablet. It does NOT come with Google play installed but i was able to get the play store from one of the boards on the touch pad to work on it. Worked great for my 3 year old. keeps her happy on car rides ...

Looks compatible from the terms, but note that this requires activation before getting the rebate.

Device seems easy to root, install custom recovery, and even CM9. Probably a deal if the rebate actually shows up.

Question: On the rebate form it says up to $70. So is there a possibility that I will not get all of $70?

While this deal looks appealing on the surface, keep in mind that this exact tablet sold for $60 at TigerDirect in the past (w/o the software). THREAD The software alone is $49.98 LINK [tigerdirect.com] The rebate is $70, making it a $20 MM (less S&H). So essentially: $60 (bundle discount tablet) + $49.98 (software) - $70 = $39.98 |

I don't know how Total Defense billing works, but when you activate, they might just do a $1 pre-authorization to see if the card # is legit. If that's the case, it'll eventually fall off, and you can clear out the balance of your card. If it was me, I wouldn't want to give that company my actual credit card #. And for those thinking about giving Discover's Secure Online Account #'s for activation... keep in mind that companies can use those "temporary" numbers to place more charges on your card later on. I know, because it happened to a family member on some magazine subscription she forgot to cancel. |

I bit. Chatter says this is a rebrand of a LY-F1 which sells for about $100 (and the Mach Speed is around $80 on Amazon now), and the Mach Speed version goes used for $60+ on ebay. I'm confident I can handle the my4rebate and the sub requirement (got a $1 visa gc ready), and also comfortable with custom roms. My only real worry at this point is getting a defective unit and having to deal with a TD return or dealing with Mach Speed directly. Also, there's the possibility of the unit turning janky after TD return period, based on some of the reviews (I'm guessing soldering issues, which I'd rather not have to confirm and fix anyway). Hopefully I'll at least be able to use wifi up to one room away from the access point, and that it'd be the worst of the issues.
Main plan's to turn this into a photo frame and lock it down into a kiosk mode with browser and photo album only, to keep it relatively simple for gifting to parents. That's getting ahead of myself though. Nothing Good Happens After 2 A.M.
