The product must be activated prior to rebate redemption. Activation requires a valid credit card in order to establish your software subscription. Subscription fees will be automatically charged to your account upon expiration of the initial term. You may cancel your subscription at any time. Total Defense will verify that the product has been activated prior to issuing the rebate.
So it looks like you can, in fact activate it for a couple days, then deactivate it. Total Defense will only check that it had been activated at all, not that it is active at the time they process the receipt.
"... has been ..." is past tense, meaning they should allow for currently inactive but previously active accounts (whereas they would deny someone who never linked a credit card and started a subscription in the first place).
Question: On the rebate form it says up to $70. So is there a possibility that I will not get all of $70?
I think that is just standard wording for a single rebate form that encompasses more than one product. In this case, all 3 eligible products are the same price ($70), so it should be a full $70 rebate. On other rebates, there may be multiple prices, so the "up to" wording would just let you know to expect the price of your specific product listed, not the highest priced product elsewhere on the rebate form.
That's just my reasoning, though; I could be wrong.
