how about you all go to your local supermarket that sells lobsters and for $15 you can get a 3lb lobster lol at least when they are on sale, i can get a 3lb for $15.
There is actually a huge excess supply of lobster right now due to high supply from a great season and low demand due to the economy. In Texas I can get live lobster by the pound for $11.00.

edit: Woah, I have never seen lobster for $5/lb even in the current situation. Maybe on the East coast buying direct.

Beef (even the non Wagyu/Kobe varieties) and seafood are much better in Japan. I was supposed to go visit a friend and his wife who lived there for 2 years, but the earthquake hit and prevented me from going. I have seen some amazing pictures though. You can still find very good seafood in the US, but it requires travel. The Pacific Northwest, Maine, parts of the Gulf States, but I completely agree with what you said about Japan.
Depends on the beef, but I'm sure you're referring to typical feedlot beef, which accounts for some 90% of the U.S. beef market. There is some fantastic beef from local farms in the Bay Area such as Marin Sun Farms.

For those who don't want this deal.......move along.
^THIS!

If you don't like RL, then don't click on the deal to read up on it. Move along so other people who actually don't mind eating there can get the deal. I don't like RL either, but I'm not going to sit here and bash on it for no apparent reason. If people want to eat there, so be it. MOVE ALONG PEOPLE!

I know this is sort of anti-Slickdeals proper manners - but I have to agree.

Places like Olive Garden, Applebees, and Reb Lobster - just gross. And I mean GROSS. And I LIKE eating crappy fast food and what not.

Blows my mind that people will go to Red Lobster and spend $30 bucks a person! Crazy.
Maybe they live in a minor city without a local restaurant scene and have no other choice. I don't see any other reason why someone would choose Red Lobster over a local restaurant.

Yes, run of the mill stuff. I can't refer to anything from local farms or dry aged since it will cause numerous temper tantrums due to the significant cost increase over supermarket meat.

Sea Island is the best casual seafood restaurant imho. But then again they're only located in San Antonio, TX. I will go to Red Lobster with discounts only, or if I have a gift card. The food is way to overpriced for what you get, and has been so for many years.

There are such things as lobster farms. Red Lobster actually has plans to build the largest lobster farm in existance over the course of the next few years. Of course it will be for raising rock lobsters, which many experts don't actually consider to be "real" lobster.

Should have been in Maine last summer. There was such a glut of lobster the price dropped to under $2/lb.

Saving 10 bucks for overpriced and poor quality seafood is not a deal. Good for people that love Red Lobster or don't have a better seafood option. Before anyone mentions those biscuits, guess what, you can make them at home too.
haters gonna hate..

Only wild caught. These aren't Maine lobsters, they're rock lobsters, which aren't really lobsters. Rock lobsters can be farm raised -- they're like some sort of crayfish.

Seafood in U.S are terrible, you will agree with me if you ever eat seafood in Japan.

ps. I am not Japanese.
That's silly. A lot of Japanese seafood is bought from Northeastern US fish markets. And Maine lobsters are the best lobsters in the world. There are plenty of amazing seafood restaurants along the Northeastern coast.

And I have eaten seafood in Japan, and it was fantastic. But not better than what I've eaten in Massachusetts and Maine -- just different.

I doubt very many people in this thread actually have any idea how to eat a lobster...
