I likes! 1600x900 screen so no 1080p but the rest of the specs are pretty solid.

if only this was under $650...makes it outside of my budget.

This was $20 cheaper a month ago. A month in computer-ville is a long time. Nothing too special here imo

Plus if the G780 is anything like the G580 the trackpad will be pretty bad - and screen quality will also be questionable. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong

I would not say smoking, but it is pretty good. As someone else mentioned it was cheaper before. The i7 is nice, the lack of full 1080 a con, the 635 is a great card so can definitely do gaming. Some other cons 5400 RPM hard drive, no blue ray, and i am not sure if this has back-lit keyboard or not. Overall if you need a gaming laptop this will fill the duty, even do video/photo editing no problems.

In most cases 8 Gig is the sweet spot for most power users. Unless people are encoding decoding multiple video streams, or gaming and recording their video sessions on maxed out settings. Most people will never hit the 8 Gig amount. Answer to your question it does support 16Gig per the link below under the specification section.

Thanks Peter! Need high RAM for running Virtual Machine (VM), which needs 8 G of RAM. I am not a gamer.

For anyone interested in a comparison between the GPU in this laptop (635M) vs. the GPU in the Sony laptop (7550M) that went FP a few days ago, according to this [futuremark.com] page, the 635M is about 45% faster.

This one Lenovo G780 is: 7187 [passmark.com] <-- The i7 CPU in this Lenovo IS 85% FASTER THAN THE i5 in the SONY
The CPU still needs to figure out whats needed and tell the GPU what to process. So a slower CPU plus faster GPU is slower overall IMO.

The title says: GT 635M
The description says: Integrated Intel® HD 4000 Graphics but spec section says GT again, maybe it has two GPUs that it switches to save battery? I dont know.

Which one is it?

Its actually both, the onboard chipset is the intel 4000 HD, but the actual dedicated unit is the 635. I know it sounds weird but they are both in there.The HD comes with the motherboard, as the 635 is the addon.

I wish like the Dell 17R laptops it came with two HDD slots so it could get one SSD and one HDD instead of two graphics cards. Still the Dell 17R refurb deals with lots more and 1080p sound way better. Maybe Im just way too happy with my existing Dell.

Got the same thing but with the i5 last week for 599 + 35 tax. Unfortunately, my budget was strained - so no i7 for me.
