All-in-one wireless printer

A coworker is looking for a good Wireless Printer/Copier/Scanner. She does not specifically need fax, but it would be a plus i guess. I have been pushing her to get laser, due to cost/page, but an inkjet with low cost/page would be an option as well. Wireless is a must, as she wants to place it in a different room than the router, and I don't want to have to run a cable or setup a ethernet bridge due to possible incompatibilities/troubleshooting needed.

I am thinking either a really efficient (in terms of toner cost) all-in-one Color inkjet or preferably a laser B&W all-in-one.

The HP 8600 is one of the best for cost per page with the XL ink cartridges. With a little patience you should be able to find the Plus version for about $130+/-.

We've been very happy with our Brother wireless all in one printer, which is one model older than the one you linked.

The one in your post is cheaper at Staples.

I have a brother j430 MFC inkjet: it has printer, copier scanner and fax + it has 50 page ADF also. IT does not do auto duplex printing. I like it very much.

Ink is super-duper cheap: if you like cartridges -> 10 LC75 cartridges (4B, 2 of the 3 other colours) are ~8 on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/LC75-MFC-J5...words=lc75

To compare the original black LC75 contains just 18ml ink and is $18 for 1 cartridge. The color ones just contain 10ml. http://www.amazon.com/Brother-LC7...words=lc75

LC75 is supposed to print ~600 pages and LC71 ~ 300.

Fax also works ok on nettalk VOIP landline.

I never used to give Brother a second look until I recently saw a deal on here and read the reviews. I have the mfc-j825dw and it has been great so far. Prints pretty fast compared to my Lexmark.

So I sent the coworker into Staples this weekend to pick up the Brother MFC7860DW which is selling for $249.99 and they also offer $50 off for a trade-in of an old printer. The original price in store and online is $299.99, with $50 instant discount, making it $249.99, then trad ein printer to make it $199.99.

The cashier said that the $50 discount for trade in would bring it to $249.99, since the sign says "Original price, $299.99. He called over a manager, but was unable to get them to budge. I told him he shold have said simply, how much will the printer cost me without a trade-in? Have them ring it up, it will ring up $249.99. Then say, now how much would it be with a trade-in? They would have to see that it should be $199.99.

I am not surprised, but I am a bit disgusted that Staples hires and doesn't bother to train their employees(even a manager) to understand their own promotions! The coworker ended up getting a lower model without an ADF (the store clerk were unable to explain the difference between the 2 printers except that the one he got did not have a fax (which he didnt need). When I explained to him that scanning and copying would be much more difficult without the ADF, he said he may go back to exchange them.

What should I tell him to do in case the idiots give him a problem again? Office of the President?

I think you may be screwed with the whole trade in printer deal. I did a search for the trade in deal because I'm in the market for a new printer and the link I found talked about $50 off the regular price.

Certainly worth a second shot at a new CSR or manager, but I wouldn't get too frustrated if it doesn't pan out.
