No, I think he had it right. I can't comment on this unit it particular, but I know with my Sony TV (has streaming capability/apps) there are some shows missing form our queue that are present on the HTPC with internet explorer (both are Hulu plus BTW). If you have Hulu plus and a device like this, see if the show Last Resort comes up on it. That show was one off the top of my head that my wife was complaining about recently not being accessable from our tv.

Unless you plan to play angry birds on your tv or plug a usb disk full of media into the Roku, the XD is as good as an XS.

A "HTPC with internet explorer" is seen as a computer in the eyes of Hulu, so you get access to all the content. To watch Hulu on a TV (ignoring the HTPC solution, please bear with me) you need a device, and that device needs a Hulu+ account. However, not all content is licensed to be viewed on a TV screen.

Thanks for proving my point. It is rather rediculous though that they would make some content computer only.

I agree. Also, the remote on the XS is much, much better. You can use it anywhere in the room. The other remote requires direct line of site (no hiding it behind the TV), and is too small for my hands. Not to mention, much cheaper plasticy feeling. I have four Rokus of varying models, I would definitely recommend you spend the extra dough and get the XS for the much better remote and the ethernet port.

@RyanL: I agree, but it is not Hulu to blame, but the content owners, and to a degree the creators. Wasn't some of the Writers Guild strike a few years back about them getting screwed over and not getting royalties from the content providers (ABC, CBS etc websites) for web viewing of their content? In time this will all settle out, we'll end up paying one way or the other

Back on topic, yeah Roku2 XS cool, nice price, but remember, Roku3 comes out tomorrow! No idea what advantage it will have.

Do you have to have service for this thing to function? Does it require any sort of activation with Roku requiring any kind of credit card etc?

Personally I prefer Netflix over Hulu+, but the wife usually watches Hulu to catch up on lot of her retarded shows (reality mostly). It really depends on if you want to watch complete seasons over catching what was on last week. It sucks that it takes Netflix so long to get the latest season of a show (they're about 2 years behind on a lot of shows). I don't really go for Netflix movies as there is no 5.1 supported in silverlight or my Sony TV which brings me to my next question;
Does anyone know if this Roku2XS supports 5.1 from Netflix? If it does, that alone would make this worthwhile for me.

Yeah, this is what's kept me from going with Hulu plus. And it's been that way for such a long time, how crazy when the only diff is a computer vs. a mobile/wireless! (and since it's owned by several of the big content providers, one would think they could get their act together)

Anyway, Roku seems to have a lot of 'junk' channels, IMHO. It works great, it's just that a lot of the channels are a bit offbeat and I would recommend anyone considering this to check them out before buying.
