no its not. for all you know Microsoft will make XBL Online Free on the Xbox 720 to compete directly with Sony's Free PSN.yummy

i will laugh really hard at those people who stack up on these cards only to find out in 6 Months that Microsoft will make online Free supported by Ads and a Plus-type subscriptionEEK!

that will be so funny/LMAOLMAO
Microsoft made about $600 million just for the paid subscriptions last year, I highly doubt they will get rid of their subscription methodology.

LoL - That would be funny and sad for people that buy a lot of these cards for the future (if it does indeed become free). But for now, it's all here-say. I didn't buy this particular deal because I'm stocked up for 10months based off the January BB/Amazon/every other retailer $35 deals. For someone who's close to running out, it is indeed the best deal in a long time

Take your arrogant fanboyism somewhere else. They'll most likely have a premium service, which these subscriptions will eventually convert themselves into. Microsoft isn't perfect, but they wouldn't completely shit on their customers like that.

If that were the case the current subscription SHOULD convert into whatever their Plus-type thing would be. There is no way (at least I want to believe this) that Microsoft could simply tell you that the additional months of Live that you paid for would basically be forfeit with nothing to show for it.
There is plenty of way.

But they would probably throw you a bone such as a free game if they did make online play free.

Or maybe they refund monies. Or actually just convert the remaining value of your xbox live cards/subscription into Xbox Live Arcade credit. Yeah they would probably do the latter.

I don't expect Live to go free unless the PS4 starts kicking sand in the 720's face. It is a big money maker for MS.

What a great deal OP. In for 5. Funny thing about Xbox live is that a lot of the subscribers (myself included) would be mad if it went free. Xbox live as it is today is well worth the small cost of admission. The service is just that much better. (Should silver accounts get access to Netflix, ect? Yes, they probably should)

There is no way that Microsoft will make this free for their next system. They make WAY too much money on it. If anything, they will use subscription fees like this to subsidize the cost of the console itself.

Also, they might start offering more content to LIVE subscribers to justify the price. Expect PS4 to offer paid services too (I think they already do with PS+).

These deals are coming like crazy for a reason. Microsoft is getting people on the hook for next generation now. It's quite brilliant if you think about it.

That right there is the exact reason that there are so many deals lately. It's not because Microsoft is doing away with paid Live because that would be crazy for them...it's because their new system is coming out and they want everybody to have 2-3 years of Live already paid for because it would really push them towards buying the Xbox 720 over a PS4.

Glad I'm not the only one who gets it. I own all 3 systems now, and plan to own all 3 new ones in the future. Only question is when, which depends on cost. Only way to play all the great exclusives.

I never realized that Steam and consoles are mutually exclusive...thanks for the heads up!

That $3/month cost is brutal and only for the richest of people though so you are right there.
