intel Atom processor..

I would rather buy a regular processor..

my HP with Core i5 Gen 2 runs heat fan crazily, if I have my Chrome browser opened with 15 to 20tabs
imagine atom processor at that rate of use...

Think of it as a tablet with some laptop capabilities. It's really a great price for all it can do. I purchased the Samsung Ativ Smart PC 500 with the same processor and really enjoy it. I paid more than this and didn't get the keyboard! Samsung does have the digitizer which is nice.

PC Mag [pcmag.com] seems to like the Acer Aspire V5. Personally I've liked Asus over Acer, but can't testify to these products specifically.

I've got a old Atom netbook - the original one core (N200?)... $100 is probably as good as I'm to find for it. Any thoughts on the other computers in this list?

Typing from an X2 right now... Great little computer if you don't do much more than word processing, web surfing, and basic internet things. Battery life is a great plus over more powerful processors. If you have NFC on your phone, that is a weird little plus that most others don't have. There is a pen (in development sorta) but there is still no sign of it on HP's website.

I wish I could trade in and get $100 for just an old computer and not have to buy a new computer right away from Staples. I have an old Pentium 4 laptop (Toshiba) with 512mb ram and 60gb harddrive. The thing is a BEAST (size wise) since it has a full Pentium 4 processor at like 3ghz.

I've got a 2.5 year old Vaio laptop with an i5 in it. (First gen.) Works fine, but it kind of seems like $300 without the fuss of Fleabay or Craigslist to sell it might actually be a pretty decent deal. Anyone agree/disagree?
