but for an i5, and quality parts (no vid card, OS), you could look to spend ~$600. for something like an a10 and quality parts ~$450 - so as you can see not really "cheaper" than buying a prebuilt. Last edited by AGpennypacker; 03-06-2013 at 12:53 PM.. |

How does this offer compare to the Office Depot HP P7-1421 for $479.99?

In terms of cpu, the 1446's a10 5700 is currently the highest iteration of the trinity locked cpu (indicated by the absence of K at the end of model number). the one in the 1421 is next although the difference is not really significant at 3.4 vs 3.2. also, the integrated gpu on the 1446 is slightly better. both however, imo, will not translate to significant difference that will be felt by average user. over-all and price point-wise, i'd take the cheaper 1446. |

My status is 'Researching.' It was supposed to be here by tomorrow but it looks like I will be lucky if I get the computer by the weekend.
Does anyone know what is going on? I just talked to my CC company and they said the order was approved and processed so I don't know what's up. |

This isn't that great a deal. Dell Outlet is having 20% off their Inspiron line right now with coupon code 6XZGKRL06HFKS5. So a Inspiron 660 with an i3 2130, 6GB, and 1TB is $303, which would be a superior system for basic computing. And if you were thinking about this APU system for gaming, you can add a GDDR5 Radeon 7750 to the Dell for ~$100 and you'd have a GPU that's over twice as fast at the 7660D. (It would have to be the 7750 because the Dell Inspiron 660 PSU doesn't have a 6 pin or molex connectors to power a card that needs an external connector) So for around $403 you'd have a gaming system that's twice as good.
It's still a good deal -- certainly nothing wrong with having a $425 A10-5700 with a local return; it's just that it's possible to squeeze out better. Last edited by kuckikirukia; 03-07-2013 at 12:06 AM.. |

ive heard only a few horror stories w/ desktop refurbs. usually again, minor scratches or dents that are hardly noticeable. most are solid condition. but again YMMV. imo, dell has great outlet return policy (no restocking or return shipping fees). i think this desktop is a great deal for new w/ easy store return + warranty. but im a cheap bastard so im more partial to refurbished computers a la dell, sony, and lenovo outlets.

I almost grabbed a pair of these for family members but found what I felt was a slightly better deal in the Dell Outlet w/ a 20% off coupon. grabbed 2 3rd gen i5 Inspiron 660s w/ 8GB ram, 1TB drive, Win8, WiFi, media reader, DVDRW, for $407 each. (free shipping) those are USB3 as well & it has HDMI out.
I think I got the last of the i5s but they had plenty of i3s left & the outlet always changes so you can keep checking back ------------ Dell Outlet Inspiron PCs - Take 20% off any Dell Outlet Inspiron laptop, desktop or all-in-one with coupon* code below!
