When have I ever said anything positive about Hugo Chavez? You can't show a single word proving I have. And why would I admire him when he staged a coup and turned Venezuela into a Cuban dictatorship?

The only people who disagree with me about Chavez are followers of Fidel Castro.

Defending Chavez = calling someone out for lying?

I never said that you were a fan. Rather, I did say a lot on the left did love the man or at least sympathize with him because his rhetoric was politically correct.

He was FOR the poor man. He was FOR the working class. He was FOR nationalizing industries to give the money back to the people. Sure, certain things were cheaper b/c of his actions. In other areas, inflation went through the roof. It got so bad, he (Chavez) issued an order to freeze grocery store prices as the poor were getting squeezed out and could not afford the food despite all the wonders of a Chavez government.

So, Larry, with respect, you're on the left or at least sympathetic to the left's causes. I've read hundreds of your posts and vice versa. Yet, Chavez is a great example of being long on the rhetoric about helping the poor and in some cases seemingly helping them when in reality, they get screwed in the long-run. Sure, if Obama seized the oil industry and redistributed the money to the poor, initially things would be awesome-o for the poor. I will never disagree with that. In the long run, the poor end up on the short end of the stick.
